2. Description of the Related Art An attempt has been made to improve the surface performance of wood such as softwood by supplying water such as steam and then hot pressing the wood to consolidate the wood in a direction perpendicular to the fibers. There is. However, it is known that just by carrying out the normal hydrothermal consolidation treatment as described above, the thickness of the wood will be restored to the original state when water and heat act thereafter.

Recently, a method has been developed in which the recovery of the original state is prevented and the consolidated wood is permanently fixed in the compressed deformation state. That is, when heat-pressing at a temperature of about 180 ° C or higher, the periphery of wood is sealed, water contained in wood is confined in the wood, and hydrothermal treatment is performed at high temperature and high pressure, resulting in a remarkable recovery suppressing effect. It has been confirmed that it will no longer return to its original thickness.

Therefore, conventionally, in order to prevent the occurrence of such a bulge, the hot press machine is water-cooled while maintaining the pressed state after the hydrothermal treatment, and the consolidated wood is heated to 60 with the hot press machine. It is cooled down to about ℃ and then taken out.

In order to achieve this object, the present invention heats the wood while compressing it in a closed space by means of a hot pressing means having a closed structure, so that the water in the wood is steamed under pressure. Then, the wood is fixed in a compressed and deformed state by hydrothermal treatment, and then the pressure in the closed space is reduced while maintaining the pressed state by the hot pressing means.

In this way, by reducing the pressure in the closed space, the water vapor contained in the wood is released into the closed space. Therefore, after the hydrothermal treatment, the wood is taken out from the hot press means in the heated state. In this case, the bulge on the surface of the wood is prevented. For this reason, it is not necessary to significantly cool or reheat the hot pressing means as in the conventional case, and energy consumption and processing time can be reduced.

The decompression in the closed space can be performed by opening the space to the atmosphere. At this time, since the closed space is in a high temperature and high pressure state immediately after the hydrothermal treatment, for example, a throttle valve may be provided in a pipeline that opens the closed space to the atmosphere, and the throttle valve may be gradually opened. preferable.

When the pressure in the closed space is reduced, it is preferable to temporarily loosen the pressed state by the hot pressing means. By doing so, the pressing surface of the hot pressing means is slightly lifted from the wood, and the steam is released from the surface of the wood in the lifted portion, which enables efficient release. According to the experiment, it was possible to release the steam very efficiently by repeating the loosening of the pressed state by the hot pressing means and the strengthening of the loosened pressed state a plurality of times.

When decompressing the enclosed space, a negative pressure below atmospheric pressure can be introduced. Then, the pressure around the wood is further reduced, and the moisture in the wood is easily vaporized, so that the steam can be more efficiently released in a short time.

When the pressure in the closed space is reduced, the temperature of the wood is lowered by cooling the inside of the hot press means with water or the like, and the temperature of the wood is also lowered accordingly, so that the surface does not bulge quickly. Move to. Therefore, due to the synergistic effect of this temperature lowering effect and the above-mentioned pressure reducing effect, it becomes possible to quickly take out the wood after the hydrothermal treatment from the hot pressing means. However, if the temperature of the hot pressing means is lowered too much, the same reheating problem as in the conventional case occurs, so that the extent of the decrease is limited. That is, it is necessary to perform processing at a harmony point that does not consume much energy or time for reheating and that enables quick work. This harmony point is determined according to the viewpoints of productivity and economical efficiency. To be done.

Next, the consolidation treatment of the wood 16 will be described. For example, when the wood 16 is a cedar board, the wood 16 is housed in the recess 14 with the upper and lower heat plates 12, 13 preheated to about 180 ° C., and the upper heat plate 13 is lowered. The recess 14
The wood 16 is compressed between the convex portion 15 and the convex portion 15. At this time, the wood 16 used contains water, and is laterally compressed in a direction perpendicular to the fibers with a pressure of about 30 to 50 kgf / cm 2 so that the plate thickness is about 50% or less compared to the original. Consolidate.

When the wood 16 is pressed in this manner, the O-ring 17 is simultaneously compressed by the upper and lower heat plates 12 and 13, and the closed space 18 is formed inside thereof. Therefore, if you leave it in that state for a few minutes to a dozen minutes, the wood 16 will be heated by the heat from the heat plates 12 and 13.
The water in the inside of the wood evaporates and becomes active steam of about 10 kgf / cm 2 in the closed space 18 and acts on the wood 16. As a result, the wood 16 is hydrothermally treated and fixed in its compressed and deformed state. The pressure of the active water vapor in the closed space 18 at this time is monitored by the pressure gauge 21.

If the time required for the hydrothermal treatment for fixing the wood 16 in a consolidated state, that is, about a dozen minutes has passed,
While maintaining the hot-pressed state of the wood 16 by the upper and lower hot plates 12 and 13, the throttle valve 23 is gradually opened to reduce the pressure in the closed space 18. Then, when the closed space 18 is left open to the atmosphere and left for a certain period of time, the pressure of water vapor in the wood 16 gradually decreases during that time.

In this way, the heating plate 12,
It is no longer necessary to significantly cool 13 and thus the need to reheat the hot plates 12, 13 over time for the wood to be subsequently consolidated. As a result, energy consumption can be reduced and the processing time can be shortened accordingly.

Specifically, when the throttle valve 23 is opened, it is confirmed that a large amount of water vapor is discharged from the exhaust pipe 22.
The release amount decreases after a certain amount of time.

Even when the pressed state is temporarily loosened in this way, the amount of water vapor released decreases with the passage of time, but after that, the compression pressure by the hot plates 12 and 13 is increased again, and the fixed time is maintained as it is. The discharge of a large amount of water vapor from the exhaust pipe 22 is similarly confirmed by holding the press state and then temporarily loosening the pressed state again. After all, by repeating the loosening of the pressed state by the hot plates 12 and 13 and the strengthening of the loosened pressed state a plurality of times, it is possible to release the steam very efficiently in a short time.

In the above description, the case where the throttle valve 23 is used to open the closed space 18 to the atmosphere has been described, but it is of course possible to reduce the pressure in the high pressure closed space 18 by another method. . Furthermore, it is also possible to introduce a negative pressure below atmospheric pressure into the closed space 18 by using the exhaust pipe 22, etc., and by doing so, the pressure around the wood 16 is further reduced and at the same time the wood 16 Since the water content inside is easily vaporized, the water vapor can be released more efficiently.

When the pressure in the closed space 18 is reduced, cooling air is introduced into the closed space 18 to lower the temperature of the wood so that the bulge does not occur on the surface of the wood quickly. It is effective to introduce such cooling air while introducing a negative pressure below atmospheric pressure as described above.

The surface of the heating plates 12 and 13 on which the wood 16 is pressed can be formed of a porous material such as ceramics. By doing so, the water vapor from the surface of the wood 16 that receives the press passes satisfactorily and is discharged through the press surface made of this porous material. As described above, according to the present invention, after the wood in the closed space is fixed in the compressed deformation state by the hydrothermal treatment by the hot pressing means, the wood is hermetically closed while the pressed state by the hot pressing means is maintained. Since the space is decompressed, the water vapor contained in the wood can be released into this closed space, preventing bulging of the wood surface when the wood is taken out of the hot pressing means after hydrothermal treatment. At this time, it is not necessary to significantly cool the hot pressing means as in the conventional case, and reheating of the hot pressing means accompanying it is not necessary, so that energy consumption and processing time can be reduced. .
