発明を実施するための最適モード
図1−3を参照すると、そこには幾つかの、しかし限定的なものではない、床
及びカウンタートップ保護パッド10の実施例及び方法が示されている。
保護パッド10は、耐引き裂き特性、耐破壊特性、耐変形特性、防湿特性、巻き
取り及び巻き出し特性を備えた、厚さ0.635mm(0.025インチ)の高密度ポリマー
フィルムシート12を含む。ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、或いはABSプラス

装置の場合と同様に、この方法はフィルムシート12とフォームシート18の組み

実験によれば、フィルムシート12の厚みが0.76mm(0.03インチ)でフォームシ
ート18の厚みが約3.18mm又は6.35mm(0.125インチ又は0.25インチ)の何れかの
パッドは展開性に劣ることが示され、フィルムシート12の厚みが0.635mm(0.025
インチ)でフォームシート18の厚みが6.35mm(0.25インチ)のパッドの場合も同
様であった。円筒形状でもって数時間巻き取っておいた後に、フィルム厚の増大
した及び/又はフォーム厚の増大したこれらのパッドは、水平表面上に平坦に広
がるのではなく、カールしたままか、或いは僅かにカールしていた。
図4には一般的に、従来技術によるプラスチックシート押し出し工程50の概略

図5には、図4に示した工程50の概略的な部分側面図が示されているが、第2
のニップ点Bに導入された付加的なフォームシート供給64もまた備えられている
。1つの実施例では、フォームシート供給64はフォームシート66のロール65を有
する。フォームシート66は第6のガイドローラ67と第7のガイドローラ68の間を

ある。図6においては、相互の間で且つフォーム/フィルム複合材69と共働して
複合材69の一方の縁部を成形するための付加的な一対のローラ、即ち雄型成形ロ
ーラ70と雌型成形ローラ71が示されている。雄型成形ローラ70は、一方の端部で
直径72が拡大されており、これに対し雌型成形ローラ71は、雄型成形ローラ70の
