Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce breaking of a bolt at nut fastening time, and restrain deformation of a seat surface by specifying construction materials of a connecting bolt and an electric conductor in a cover for a storage battery. CONSTITUTION: In a cover for a storage battery, a bolt terminal is provided with a lead alloy-made bushing 2, an electric conductor 3 and a connecting bolt 4. The electric conductor 3 is constituted in a condition of being fitted to and installed on the whole circumference or an opposed surface of a head part 4c of the connecting bolt 4, and the connecting bolt 4 and the electric conductor 3 are formed on the lead alloy-made bushing 2 in a fitted and installed condition by insert casting. A construction material such as stainless steel having tensile strength larger than brass is used as the connecting bolt 4, and breaking of the bolt 4 at nut fastening time is reduced. The electric conductor 3 such as brass by solder or lead plating is used as a washer for a connecting part of a cable or the like, and deformation of a seat surface at nut fastening time is restrained. Therefore, terminal strength can be improved without impairing electric conductivity.

2. Description of the Related Art As one of the conventional storage battery bolt terminals, as shown in FIG. 2, there is one which is composed of a connecting bolt 4 having a threaded portion and a lead alloy bushing 2. in this case,
The connecting bolt 4 is made of a material such as brass that is easy to cut and has good electrical conductivity, and has a seat surface 4a for connecting parts such as a cable and a whirl-stop 4b in the lead alloy bushing 2 at the bottom. It is generally formed and cast into a lead alloy bushing 2 that is soldered or lead plated.

Further, in addition to the above, the conventional bolt terminal for a storage battery has a head portion 4c of a connecting bolt as shown in FIG.
In some cases, the cast iron is completely embedded in the lead alloy bushing 2. In this case, since the connecting component such as the cable directly contacts the seat portion 2a of the lead alloy bushing, the connecting bolt 4 does not need electrical conductivity.

Further, in the storage battery bolt terminal as shown in FIG. 3, since a bolt having high strength is used, the drawback of breakage of the bolt is solved, but the seat portion 2a of the lead alloy bushing is compressed when the nut is tightened. There is another drawback that it is deformed to loosen the connection part.

Further, by using a conductor such as brass plated with lead or solder on the seat surface for connecting parts such as cables, deformation of the seat surface at the time of tightening the nut is compared with that of the lead alloy seat surface. It can be suppressed and the terminal strength can be improved without impairing the electrical conductivity.
