Abstract

PURPOSE: To make a pickup part for reading the information of CD-ROM so as to be automatically cleaned. CONSTITUTION: The pickup part 2 for reading the information of the CD-ROM 1 makes one reciprocating movement from a moving position 2b to a moving position 2c at the outside of outer circumference of the CD-ROM 1, e.g. when the power is turned on, other than the moving position 2a-2b for the normal reproduction, then it is brought into contact with a brush 3 provided for fixing on the device, thereby a lens of the pickup part 2 is automatically cleaned. In this case, the pickup part may be made reciprocable on the moving position 2b-2c when a playing is ended, or may be made reciprocable for plural times.

2. Description of the Related Art In recent years, a CD-ROM reproducing device has become widespread, but reliability of a reproduced signal due to dirt on a pickup portion is a problem.

A pickup unit for reading information from a CD-ROM, a mechanism for moving the pickup unit, and a brush fixed to the main body outside the outer periphery of the CD-ROM for cleaning the pickup unit. A CD-ROM reproducing device in which the brush cleans the pickup section every time the pickup section moves outside the outer circumference of the CD-ROM.
