【発明の詳細な説明】
非線形光学積層構造体
共役ポリマー、即ち鎖に沿って配置された共役二重結合を有する炭化水素ポリマ
ーは、非局在化したπ電子の良好な運動性および易分極性に基づき、一連の重要
な使用技術的性質を有する。即ち、穐々の系は、殊に電子供与体または電子受容
体の添加の際に、極めて高い導電率を示す(lLJ、Mo目 およびS、Rol
h、 Elckl+1sch 1eilende Kunsl+1olle、
Cart Ha+++e+ Vc+lsg。
ミュンヘン、ウィーン参照)。
同様に、共役有機材料が高い非線形光学(NLO)効果を示すことも公知である
(D、 R,Ul+ich、 Po17me+s lot Non1inear

この場合NLO効果の度合は一般に1分子当たりの二重結合数によって増大する
。従って、拡大した共役π電子系を有するポリマーは、オプトエレクトロニクス
的構成要素または純粋な光学的構成要素での使用、例えば情報学で使用するため
の候補である。できるだけ大きいNLO効果とともに、相応する材料は、迅速な
弛緩(即ち、最小の開閉時間)および僅かな、吸収または分散によるロスを有す
るはずである。その上、例えば薄層の形の材料の良好な作業性が保証されている
の化学的網状構造から形成されていてもよい。拡散遮断被覆、鉢をこ刀ロナノイ
ド慴造を有する共役ポリエンである。
共役二重結合を有する多数の有機材料の重大な欠点は、空気に接しての貯蔵の際
の化学的不安定性であり、この不安定性によってこの材料種類の実際の使用可能
性は著しく制限される。共役ポリマーの不安定性は、多くの場合1分子当たりの
二重結合数と一緒に増大する。このことは、殊にカロチノイド構造を有するポリ
エンにあてはまる。
従って、本発明の課題は、共役ポリエンの安定性を改善し、ひいては共役ポリエ
ンの実際的な使用可能性、殊に純粋な光学的構成要素またはオプトエレクトロニ
クス的構成要素における使用を改善することであった共役ポリマーの安定性は、
共役ポリマーが多少の二次元支持体または三次元支持体と薄い拡散遮断被覆とか
らなる複合体中に導入される場合に、本質的に増大されることができることが見
いだされた。拡散遮断被覆として適当であるのは、金属または非金属の窒化物、
酸化物、炭化物、オキシドニトリド、カーバイドニトリド、カーバイドオキシド
またはカーバイドオキシドニトリドである。有利には酸素不含の被覆であり、特
に有利には成分SiおよびA1の窒化物である。更に、拡散遮断被覆は元素C,
S i、A1.O,NおよびHしていてよい。粗結晶層は、粒界での僅かな遮断
作用に基づき一般には不適当である。
NLOの使用のためには、拡散遮断被覆は、可視スペクトル範囲および赤外スペ
クトル範囲内での照射に対する高い透過率(透過性)を有するべきである。この
透過率によって、純粋な光学的構成要素またはオプトエレクトロニクス的構成要
素における光線の付加的な吸収は阻止されるはずである。従って、光学的な使用
にとって特に好適であるのは50%、有利に90%を上回る光の透過率を有する
拡散遮断層である。拡散遮断層が微細結晶微粒構造を有する場合には、付加的な
分散損失を回避するため、粒度は予想される照射の波長よりも明らかに小さいも
のであるべきである。
拡散遮断被覆の層厚は5〜110000n、有利に20〜200nmの範囲内に
あることができる。層の厚さを全結合体の特殊な光学的要件に適応させることは
可能である。この場合、適当な層厚の選択は、自体公知の薄層の光学的性質に対
する合法性に相応して行なわれる(0.S、He1vens;”0ptical

ロンドン、1955 参照)。全結合体が、例えば光学的使用の際に拡散遮断層
の側面から放射される場合には1周囲媒体/拡散遮断層もしくは拡散遮断層/ポ
リマー層の界面での射光の反射損失を、拡散遮断層の層厚を特別に選択すること
によって最小にすることが可能である。
本発明による拡散遮断層の製造にはP V D (Ph7sical Vapo
r Deposition)およびCV D (Chemical VaPor
Deposilion)の方法が適当である。可能なPVD法は、蒸着、陰極ス
パッタリングならびに陽極または陰極アーク被覆である(R,F、 Bhuns
hah 他、″Deposi口onTechnologies lot Fil
es and Coatings ”、 Nodes Publicalion
s、 1982 参照)、可能なCVD法はプラズマ溶射による気相メッキであ
る()1. Yasuda、 ”Plasma p17me+1xalion″
、^eadc+++ic Ptess+ 1985参照)。有利にはプラズマ溶
射法、例えば陰極スパッタリングまたはプラズマ溶射による気相メッキであり;
特に有利には陰極スパッタリングである。
陰極スパッタリングの場合、被覆のために準備された材料は固体の形で、所謂タ
ーゲットとして、プラズマ系の陰極上に塗布され、減圧下、有利に5X10−’
〜5X10−’ミリバールの圧力範囲内で工程雰囲気中でスパッタリングされ、
かつ支持体上でメッキされる。
常法ではプロセスガスは希ガス、例えばアルゴンを含有する。本発明による層を
生成するためには、陰極スパッタリングの種々の変法、例えばマグネトロンスパ
ッター、DCスパッターもしくはRFスパッター、バイアススパッターまたは反
応性スパッターならびにこ特表千7−507644 (3)
れらの組合せが適当である。マグネトロンスパッターの場合、スパッタリングさ
れるべきターゲットは外側の磁場の中にあり、この磁場はプラズマをターゲット
の範囲内に集中させ、それによってスパッタリング率の上昇ならびに支持体の温
度負荷の減少を惹起する。
DCスパッターもしくはRFスパッターの場合、スパッタリングプラズマの励起
は自体公知方法でDC発電機もしくはRF発電機によって行なわれる。バイアス
スパッターの場合、被覆されるべき成形体は一般に負のバイアス電圧(バイアス
)を用いて被覆され、このバイアスは被覆の間、イオンを有する成形体の強力な
衝撃をもたらす。拡散遮断層を製造する場合、共役ポリマー層の変性を回避する
ため、支持体上での温度展開はできるだけ僅かであるべきである。従って、層の
生成にはDCマグネトロンスパッターが特に好適である。
本発明による層の生成には、反応性陰極スパッタリングが特に有利である。反応
性陰極スパッタリングの場合、プロセスガスに他の反応性ガス、例えば酸素、窒
素、水素または炭化水素が所望の量で適当な時点で混入される。適当なターゲッ
トをスパッタリングする場合には、当該の酸化物層、窒化物層、炭化物層、オキ
シドニトリド層、カーバイドニトリド層、カーバイドオキシド層またはカーバイ
ドオキシドニトリド層が付着される。この場合、使用されるターゲットは純粋な
金属(伊えばAl)または純粋な非金属(例えばSl)から形成されるか、また
はそのような金属もしくは非金属の酸化物、窒化物またはカーバイドから形成さ
れることができる。本発明による拡散遮断層の生成には、Siターゲットまたは
AIケタ−ットの反応性陰極スパッタリングが特に好適である。
望ましい層厚、化学的組成および微粒構造は、本質的に被覆のパラメーターであ
るプロセスガス圧力、プロセスガス組成、スパッタリング出力、スノ(ツタ−法
および支持体温度によって確定される。
前述の付着方法を用いて、層の組成が、増大する層の深さとともに前記した方法
で変動するような、薄し1、所謂勾配層を生成することも可能である。この場合
、組成の変動は簡単な方法で、被覆パラメーターによって制御されることができ
る。更にまた、拡散遮断層としては多数の窒化物層、酸化物層または炭化物層(
もしくはこれらの組合わせ)からなる層系も、場合lこよっては薄い金属層を含
めて、可能である。
本発明による結合体の共役ポリマー層はポリエン、例えばポリアセチレンまたは
多複素環、例えばポリチオフェンまたはポリピロールを含有してし1てより洩。
有利に層はカロチノイド構造を有するポリエン、例え1fアスタキサンチンを含
有する。特に有利に有機層(ま、カロチノイド構造および多数の共役二重結合を
有するポリエン、例えばC6゜−アスタキサンチンを含有する。
更に共役ポリマー層は、マトリックス中に共役ポリマーが埋設されているような
、常用の透明な有機ポリマーを含有していてよい。マトリックスは良好な加工可
能性および高い機械的応力、ならびに埋設された共役ポリマーの付加的な化学的
安定性を保証する。マトリックス材料としては、良好なフィルム形成特性を有す
る透明なポリマー、例えばポリスチロール、ポリ酢酸ビニル、ポリアクリレート
、非晶質ポリウレタン、混合ポリアミド、しかし有利にはポリメチルメタクリレ
ートまたはポリビニルピロリドンが該当する。共役ポリマーの有機層含量は、1
0〜100%の範囲内であってよい。
有機層を生成するには、ポリマー薄層を製造する公知方法、例えばスピンコーテ
ィング、圧縮、ナイフ塗布、注型、押出または電解重合(EIek++opol
yw+erisatinn )が使用されてよい。有機層の厚さは10〜110
000nの範囲内であってよい。
全結合体の付着強度を改善するため、ポリマー層を塗布する前に支持体、もしく
は拡散遮断層を塗布する前にポリマー層が前処理されることが可能である。適当
な前処理は、熱処理または化学的もしくは物理的腐食処理である。
本発明による層構造体は次のものとして使用することができる。
−純枠光学的回路構成素子
−オプトエレクトロニクス的構成素子
−導電性ポリマー構成部材。
特に本発明による結合体の利点は、良好な非線形光学的性質、僅かな緩和時間、
吸収および分散による僅かな光学的損失、良好な加工可能性および殊に長時間の
安定性にある。
例
CHCl35g中にC6゜−アスタキサンチン60mgを25℃、30分で撹拌
下に溶解する。この溶液10滴を15秒で、5000[m1n−’コで回転する
ガラス小板上に滴下する。引続き、更に15秒遠心分離する1次にガラス小板を
真空中で25℃で乾燥させる被覆したガラス小板を市販の陰極スパッタリング装
置(^1ealel SCM 601)の中で使用する。ガラス小板に手行に、
60 m mの間隔で150mmの直径を有する丸いS1ターゲツトを固定する
。装置を2段階のポンプ系を用いて10−6ミリバールの圧力に排気する6次に
A r / N z混合物を1.1の流動比で送入し、その結果5 X 10−
’ミリパールの圧力を調節する。SiターゲットにRFt圧をかける(スパッタ
リング出力400W)ことによって、厚さ60nmの透明な(Si−N)相を付
着させる。
比較試料を付加的な(Si−N)被覆なしで放置する。2つの試料を暗い実験室
環境(20℃、相対湿度40%)の中に貯蔵する。規則的な時間間隔で、吸収ス
ペクトルを測る0表は515nmの波長の場合(C1゜−アスタキサンチン吸収
の最大)の2つの層の相対的吸収を表わす。
下記に明らかなように、(Si−N)を被覆した試料は観察の時間では変化しな
い。従って、アスタキサンチン層は不変のままである。これとは異なって、比較
試料の挙動は、数日でアスタキサンチン層の破壊を表 C8゜−アスタキサンチ

Claims (7)
- 1.殊に空気酸素の攻撃から保護された、非線形光学材料〔NLO)からなる層 において、該層が少なくとも片面に拡散遮断層を有することを特徴とする、非線 形光学材料からなる層。
- 2.拡散遮断層が高い光の透過率を有する、請求項1記載の層。
- 3.拡散遮断層が5〜10000nmの厚さを有する請求項1記載の層。
- 4.拡散遮断層が金属または非金属の少なくとも1つの窒化物、酸化物または炭 化物からなる、請求項1記載の層。
- 5.層が珪素またはアルミニウムの窒化物からなる、請求項4記載の層。
- 6.NLO層をPVD−またはCVD法により被覆することによって得ることが できる、請求項1から5までのいずれか1項に記載の層。
- 7.NLO層が共役ポリエンからなる、請求項1から6までのいずれか1項に記 載の層。
