Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a noise preventive device of escalator which can eliminate generation of vibrations and/or noises caused by engagement of a conveyor chain with a drive sprocket to drive it by furnishing a buffer member on the teeth of the sprocket in such a way as covering their surfaces. CONSTITUTION:A buffer member 9 is made in a sheet form in a single piece from a comparatively soft elastic material such as synthetic rubber. A conveyor chain 4 and a drive sprocket 5 are in engagement through fillets 9a of this buffer member 9, wherein the fillets 9a are fitted in such a way as covering the teeth 5a of the sprocket 5, so that the chain 4 and sprocket 5 will never collide with each other directly. Even though any fillet's) 9a is put off while the escalator is in operation, no vibration or noise will be generated in that part, because columnar parts 9b provided on the buffer member 9 are embedded under the teeth 5a. This constitution prevents continuous generation of vibrations and noises, which are otherwise generated by the engagement of a conveyor chain with a drive sprocket.

Example 1. 1 to 4 show an embodiment of a noise prevention device for an escalator according to the present invention. In the drawings, the same parts as those in the conventional example are designated by the same reference numerals, and the description thereof will be omitted. Reference numeral 9 is a cushioning member that is attached to the teeth 5a of the drive sprocket 5 and that prevents vibration and noise due to the meshing of the conveyor chain 4 and the drive sprocket 5. The cushioning member 9 is formed in a sheet shape, and has a fin portion 9a that covers the tooth 5a, a columnar projecting portion at a substantially central portion on the back side of the fin portion 9a, and a pillar portion embedded in the deepest bottom portion of the tooth 5a. And a portion 9b, and is integrally formed of a relatively soft elastic material such as synthetic rubber. Further, the cushioning member 9 is attached so that the fin portion 9a and the columnar portion 5b are adhered to the teeth 5a with an adhesive so that they can be easily replaced if necessary.
