Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject composition, containing a petrolatum as a principal component and further a process oil therein, excellent in anticorrosive properties, application operating efficiency (in the winter season) and tackiness within a wide temperature range and useful as an anticorrosive material for pipes, bridging piles, parts around installed tanks, etc. CONSTITUTION:This anticorrosive composition contains (A) a petrolatum as a principal component and further (B) an aromatic, a naphthenic or a paraffinic process oil therein. The component (B) is contained in an amount of preferably 3-30 pts.wt., especially 5-20 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. component (A). Since the component (B), excellent in compatibility with the component (A) and having low temperature sensitivity is contained, the composition is hardly affected by a change in temperature and manifests excellent tackiness at a temperature within a wide range of low to high temperatures and further excellent application operating efficiency.

2. Description of the Related Art Petrolatum has plasticity and has an excellent anticorrosion effect, so that it can be used in the form of paste, tape, sheet, etc.
Widely used as an anticorrosion material for pipes, bridge piles, and around tanks. However, since petrolatum has a high temperature sensitivity, it has poor heat resistance and softens at high temperatures to contaminate hands and clothes. Also, since it has poor cold resistance, it loses flexibility at low temperatures (5 ° C or lower). There was a problem that the deployment force of the anticorrosion tape was heavy and construction was difficult.

In order to address the above-mentioned problems, a composition for anticorrosion comprising petrolatum and a rubber-like elastic material has been proposed (Japanese Patent Publication No. 61-42822), but in the case of this composition, the heat resistance is improved. However, the effect of improving cold resistance is not yet sufficient.

[0004] In order to improve the cold resistance of the anticorrosion composition, a method of blending liquid polybutene with petrolatum is also commonly used. However, liquid polybutene also has a high temperature sensitivity, so that the effect of improving cold resistance is improved. Is not sufficient, and the actual situation is that during construction in winter, the anticorrosion tape is soaked in hot water before construction, for example, to soften it and use it with less spreading force. The problem of poor workability has not been resolved.

The above petrolatum is a semi-solid waxy substance obtained from petroleum, and has a melting point of about 50 to 150 ° C and 25 ° C.
And has a characteristic of about 50 to 250 in consistency. The type of petrolatum used as a main component in the anticorrosion composition of the first invention is not particularly limited, but considering comprehensively the anticorrosion property, the tackiness, the workability and the like required for the anticorrosion tape, High melting point and low consistency are preferred.

The process oil contained as an essential component in the anticorrosion composition of the first invention is a hydrocarbon which is a petroleum fraction having a high boiling point and is used as a softening agent for rubber, plastics and the like. . The above-mentioned process oils are roughly classified into three types: aromatic, naphthene-based, and paraffin-based, but the type of process oil used in the anticorrosive composition of the first invention is not particularly limited. One or more of the three types of process oils are preferably used.

Since the above process oil has low temperature sensitivity and excellent compatibility with petrolatum, it can be contained in petrolatum as a softening agent to compare with the case of containing softening agents such as liquid polybutene and various plasticizers. Then
The adhesiveness at low temperature is improved without lowering the heat resistance of the anticorrosion composition, and the deployability of the obtained anticorrosion tape at low temperature is lightened, so that the workability in winter is remarkably improved.

When the content of the process oil is less than about 3 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of petrolatum, the anticorrosion tape obtained does not have a sufficiently low spreading force at low temperatures, and conversely, it exceeds about 30 parts by weight. The heat resistance of the anticorrosion tape decreases.
