Fan belt squeal in automobiles is caused by a decrease in belt tension, deterioration of belt rubber, drying, uneven wear of pulleys, etc.
The friction coefficient and contact pressure between the fan belt and pulley become non-uniform, and adhesion slippage occurs at the part where the conditions of the three factors of friction coefficient, contact pressure and slip speed meet, and the vibration due to the adhesion slippage occurs in the peripheral accessories. It is expanded and generated by resonance.

As a method for reducing such squeal, conventionally, the tension of the belt is increased or the surface of the belt is wetted. However, in such a method, it takes time and effort to increase the belt tension, the moisture on the belt surface is lost by dust in the atmosphere, and the effect disappears when it is lost by evaporation. The phenomenon of could not be solved easily.

The particle size of the solid lubricant and the abrasive must be easily introduced to the contact surface between the fan belt and the pulley, and if the particle size is 100 μm or more, the sliding resistance between the fan belt and the pulley becomes large, resulting in contact. It is easy for solids to fall off the surface. The preferred particle size is 0.1 for both solid lubricants and abrasives.
~ 50 μm. The solid lubricant may have a particle size smaller than 0.1 μm, but the abrasive cannot be expected to function when the particle size becomes smaller than 0.1 μm, so the particle size is set to 0.1 μm or more.

The compounding amount of the solid lubricant is based on the total weight of the inhibitor of the present invention.
15-35% by weight, preferably 20-28% by weight. Below 15% by weight, the action of the abrasive becomes strong, which accelerates the wear of the belt and shortens the service life of the belt, or it is less than the amount of oil. If the total solid content is too small, and if it exceeds 35% by weight, the action of the solid lubricant becomes too strong, and the belt may slip.

The amount of the abrasive compounded is 10 to 70% by weight, preferably 30 to 50% by weight. If the amount is less than 10% by weight, the action of the solid lubricant becomes too strong, or the amount of oil is too large, and the solid content is The action is weakened and the effectiveness as an anti-squealing agent is diminished. On the other hand, if it exceeds 70% by weight, the compounding amount of the other compounding agent becomes small, and it becomes impossible to obtain a compound having a desired effect.

The amount of liquid or semi-solid mineral oil, synthetic oil or fat is 15 to 75% by weight. If the amount is less than 15% by weight, the adhesion of solids will be weakened and it will be difficult to expect a long-lasting effect. . If the amount of the oil component is less than 30%, the workability of coating deteriorates. In such a case, it is possible to dilute the coating by adding an organic solvent that volatilizes at room temperature. On the other hand, if it exceeds 75% by weight, the action of the solid content is weakened, the effectiveness is diminished, and the amount of the other compound is reduced, so that the intended purpose cannot be achieved.

In addition to the above three components, the inhibitor of the present invention includes a solid lubricant and a dispersant for improving dispersibility of an abrasive in oil, and various additives other than an antioxidant for preventing oil oxidation. If necessary, less than 5% by weight can be added, so that the total amount of the three components should be 95% by weight or more.

The anti-squeal agent of the present invention first eliminates a portion having an abnormally high friction coefficient on the contact surface by using a solid lubricant, and reduces the variation in the friction coefficient on the contact surface. Next, the abrasive acts on the part where the contact pressure between the fan belt and the pulley is low to prevent partial step slippage, and at the same time, the belt rubber and pulley surfaces are abraded, deteriorated and dried, and the cured rubber is removed from the contact surface, The contact surface condition can be changed from the contact between the hard rubber and the pulley with uneven unevenness to the contact between the flexible belt internal structural material and the smooth pulley to make the contact pressure of the contact surface uniform. . That is, it is intended to prevent the adhesion slip by changing the state of the contact surface between the fan belt and the pulley.

Examples 1 to 19 Molybdenum disulfide having an average particle size of 1.5 μm and 5 μm as a solid lubricant, graphite having a particle size of 3 μm, tetrafluoroethylene resin having a particle size of 8 μm, an adduct of melamine and cyanuric acid having a particle size of 1.3 μm, At least one of boron nitride and cerium fluoride having a particle size of 10 μm and an average particle size as an abrasive
Aluminum oxide of 55 μm and 38 μm, at least one of silicon carbide having a particle size of 35 μm, and lithium soap thickener grease as oil (mixing 10-15 wt% of lithium soap in grease: consistency NO.2), bentonite System clay mineral thickener grease (7-10% by weight of bentonite clay mixed with grease: consistency NO.2), petroleum jelly and at least one of refined mineral oil were mixed in the ratio shown in Table 1. An anti-squeal agent was prepared, and each of them was diluted with 1,1,1-trichloroethane by a factor of 2 to prepare a spray stock solution.
27 wt% of this spray stock solution and 73 wt% of CFC gas as a propellant were compounded in the amount of 73% by weight, and a spray was made. By making the anti-squeal agent of the present invention into a spray form in this way, it is possible to simplify the application work to the application site. Using the spray of each example, spraying was applied for 5 seconds on the contact surface between the fan belt and the alternator pulley of the passenger car showing the symptoms of automobile fan belt squealing. Table 2 shows the results determined by hearing and the condition of the belt surface at that time.

Comparative Examples 1 to 5 Selected from the same solid lubricants, abrasives and oils as used in Examples 1 to 19 and mixed in proportions shown in Table 1 so that the mixture proportion is outside the range of the present invention. Then, a squeal-preventing agent was adjusted, a spray was manufactured as a trial in the same manner as shown in the example, and sprayed between the contacts to perform a test. The results are also shown in Table 2.

From the results in the above table, 10 when the anti-squeaking agent of the present invention was used
No abnormal noise was generated even after traveling for 00 km, and no particular abnormality was observed in the surface condition of the belt. However, in Comparative Examples 1 to 5 with a mixing ratio outside the range of the present invention, all abnormal noise was observed up to 1000 km. It has been recognized that the belt surface condition becomes rough and an inhibitor is used to shorten the belt life, or the belt idles and the engine may overheat.
