Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a dial of novel design at low cost by forming a colored transparent resin layer, in turtleback shape, on the top surface of a protrusion such as a character mark on the dial for wrist watch. CONSTITUTION:A surface pattern is formed through machining on a dial base 1 and a nonconductive film layer, i.e., a paint layer 2, is formed thereon. Such parts as corresponding to character, abbreviation, mark, and the like are then embossed and superficial film is removed therefrom. Furthermore, a part where a conductive underlying metal layer is exposed is cut partially to form a groove and a resin layer 3 is formed therein. The resin layer 3 and the outside metal layer are then polished to provide a flush plane thus forming a colored transparent resin layer 4 of turtleback shape on the top surface of the resin layer 3 and the metal layer.
