Abstract

PURPOSE:To effectively remove org. compd. and org. halogen compd., etc., contained in city water to make safty water and to provide the water purification device usable for a long time by installing the means supplying hot water or steam to the activated carbon packed layer of an activated carbon filter tower. CONSTITUTION:When the activated carbon filter tower 2 is treated by steam, the water in the activated carbon filter tower 2 is discharged by stopping a pump 6, closing valves 7, 8, 9, 13 and opening a valve 12. Then, a steam feeder 3 is operated after closing the valve 12 and opening a valve 10. Steam is sent to the activated carbon filter tower 2 through the valve 10, and various germs propagated in the activated carbon filter tower 2 is heat sterilized. Further, volatile org. compd. such as trihalomethane adsorbed to the activated carbon is desorbed from the activated carbon by steam, and discharged with steam outside of the activated carbon filter tower 2 through a valve 11. By periodically executing this kind of heat-treatment, activated carbon is sterilized and the ability to adsorb org. compd. of activated carbon is recovered.

2. Description of the Related Art In recent years, the quality of tap water sources has deteriorated due to environmental pollution and the like, and along with this, odorous substances and organochlorine compounds such as trihalomethanes have been included in tap water, and tap water in Japan is not always available. It is no longer delicious water or safe water. Each household has dealt with such deterioration of the quality of tap water by installing a water purifier at the faucet of the water supply, but recently, there are cases where a purifying device is installed at a water tank or an elevated water tank of an apartment house.

Most of these water purifiers and water purifiers use activated carbon. This is because, by using activated carbon, chlorine (chlorine) and organic substances that cause the odor of tap water can be adsorbed and removed inexpensively and efficiently.

Although trihalomethane, which is a carcinogen in tap water, which has become a problem in recent years, can be adsorbed and removed by activated carbon, the amount of trihalomethane that can be adsorbed by activated carbon is the same as chlorine that can adsorb the same amount of activated carbon. It is known that there is a problem that when the amount of trihalomethane that can be adsorbed is far smaller than that of the adsorbed trihalomethane, the amount of adsorbed trihalomethane leaks to the filtered water and becomes higher than that before filtration.

When water is purified using the above water purifier, first the valves 7, 8 and 13 are opened, and the valves 9, 10, 1 are opened.
1 and 12 are closed and the pump 6 is operated. The raw water is sent from the raw water storage tank A to the activated carbon filtration tower 2 via the valve 7, the pump 6 and the valve 8 and is sent to the treated water storage tank B via the valve 13 after filtration. On the way, sodium hypochlorite in the storage tank 4 is injected by the pump 5.

When steaming the activated carbon filtration tower 2, the pump 6 is stopped, the valves 7, 8, 9, 13 are closed, and the valve 12 is opened to discharge the water in the activated carbon filtration tower 2. Then valve 12
Is closed and the valve 10 is opened to operate the steam supply device 3.
The steam is sent to the activated carbon filtration tower 2 through the valve 10 and heat-sterilizes the various bacteria propagated in the activated carbon filtration tower. Further, this vapor desorbs volatile organic substances such as trolleyhalomethane adsorbed on the activated carbon from the activated carbon, and discharges it together with the vapor through the valve 11 to the outside of the activated carbon filtration tower 2.

Further, in the conventional water receiving tank, a room for receiving tap water and a room for receiving treated water are separately provided, but the water receiving tank 1 is partitioned by a partition wall to integrally configure both. By doing so, when the treated water is excessively accumulated, it overflows into the raw water storage tank A (see FIGS. 1 and 2),
The water can be treated again to improve safety.

In this embodiment, a hot water supply device 14 is provided between the pump 6 and the valve 8. When the hot water supply device 14 does not operate, the raw water from the raw water storage tank A is sent as it is to the activated carbon filtration tower 2 via the valve 8, and the hot water supply device 14
When is activated, the raw water is heated and converted to hot water at 60 ° C to 80 ° C. As the hot water supply device 14, for example, an electric heater, a solar water heater, or a gas water heater may be used and may be heated directly or indirectly by heat exchange. Further, an electric heater may be installed in the activated carbon filtration tower 2 to directly heat and circulate the water in the tower to heat the whole, or preheat the raw water for use.

When the activated carbon filtration tower 2 is treated with hot water, the valves 8 and 15 are opened, all the remaining valves are closed, the pump 6 is operated, and the hot water supply device 14 is operated. As a result, the hot water is activated carbon filtration tower 2, pump 6 and hot water supply device 1
It circulates in the loop of 4. That is, the water in the activated carbon filtration tower 2 is circulated by the pump 6, and the inside of the tower is heated while being heated by the hot water supply device 14 on the way to a predetermined temperature (for example, 80
When the temperature is raised to about 90 ° C.), the hot water supply device 14 is controlled so as to maintain the temperature. By circulating this hot water, the germs propagated in the activated carbon filtration tower 2 are sterilized by heat, and further volatile organic substances such as trollyhalomethane adsorbed on the activated carbon are released from the activated carbon. After circulating the hot water for a certain period of time, the valve 15 is closed and the valve 12 is opened to discharge the used hot water.

As explained above, the water purifying apparatus of the present invention purifies water by passing water through the activated carbon packed bed, and periodically discharges tap water in the activated carbon packed bed to activate the steam supply device to generate steam. The steam generated from the generator is guided to the activated carbon packed bed, and the heat of the steam heats the inside of the activated carbon packed bed. As a result, it is possible to sterilize the activated carbon packed bed and the bacteria that propagate on the inner wall of the filtration tower equipped with the activated carbon packed bed. Further, the vapor desorbs volatile organic substances such as trihalomethane adsorbed on the activated carbon from the activated carbon and discharges it together with the vapor to the outside of the activated carbon filtration tower, thereby recovering the organic substance adsorption capacity of the activated carbon.
