Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent breeding of miscellaneous germs in a water purifier by constituting it with active carbon removing organic substances through contact with water and an ultraviolet lamp decomposing organic substances in water by radiation. CONSTITUTION:Water including drinking water enters a water purifier from an inlet 1, and purified water is discharged from an outlet 2. A cylinder 4 formed with active carbon is fixed in a housing 3. An ultraviolet lamp 6 which is covered with a protection tube 5 and wired to an external power source is installed inside of the cylinder 4, and a water passage 7 is fitted between the cylinder 4 and the protection tube 5. Organic substances in supplied water are adsorbed in the cylinder 4 during passage in the cylinder 4. Water is purified by the radiation of ultraviolet rays from the ultraviolet lamp 6 for sterilizing water. When the adsorption capacity of the cylinder 4 is reduced, the cylinder 4 is soaked in water and a water inflow is controlled by a water stopper placed outside of the inlet 1, and water in the water passage 7 is radiated with ultraviolet rays from the ultraviolet lamp to reduce the organic substances in water by decomposition.

[Function] In the present invention, activated carbon acts to adsorb impurities such as organic substances in water, and the ultraviolet lamp irradiates water with ultraviolet rays to decompose organic substances in water and sterilize water. Furthermore, in the present invention, regeneration to maintain the activity of activated carbon is carried out by immersing the activated carbon containing adsorbed substances in water and allowing the adsorbed substances to be released into the water. Irradiation to decompose and reduce organic matter in water has the effect of promoting the release of adsorbed substances from activated carbon into water.

Furthermore, in this water purifier, when the adsorption capacity of the cylinder 4 is reduced due to the adsorption of organic matter, the adsorbed matter in the cylinder 4 is released into the water to regenerate the activity of the activated carbon. To this end, while the cylinder body 4 is immersed in water, the inflow amount of water is controlled by a water stop valve (not shown) provided outside the water inlet 1, and the cylinder body 4 is immersed in water. The water in the passageway 7 is irradiated with ultraviolet rays by the ultraviolet lamp 6 to decompose and reduce organic matter in the water and promote the release of activated carbon adsorbates into the water.

In addition, in this water purifier, if the adsorption capacity of the activated carbon is reduced due to adsorption of organic matter, the pump 8 is operated while the water in the passageway 7 is irradiated with ultraviolet rays from the ultraviolet lamp 6. By circulating water using a branched circulation path that connects the outlet and inlet, the activated carbon adsorbate is released into the water, and the activated carbon is regenerated. In this case, the inflow and outflow amounts of water are controlled by water stop valves (not shown) provided outside the water inlet 1 and water outlet 2 in FIG. Circulating and supplying water whose organic matter content has been reduced by decomposing organic matter by ultraviolet irradiation to the activated carbon in this manner is effective in promoting the detachment of adsorbed matter adhering to the activated carbon.
