Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a flat display panel with high reliability capable of supporting an electrode structure easily and strongly in high accuracy. CONSTITUTION:A fixing body 6 is formed of material having thermal expansion coefficient substantially the same at that of a face glass 1 and joined by low- melting point glass 7 to a predetermined position of the face glass 1. A joint member 9 is mounted in a predetermined position by a screw 8 and an electrode structure 5 and the joint member 9 are mounted to each other by a screw 10. Since the electrode structure 5 is held via the joint member 9 having a flexible part 9a, no stress is, generated at the mounting part of the fixing body 6 due to elastic deformation of the flexible part 9a even if the thermal deformation is generated in the electrode structure during heating process in manufacturing stage.

However, in the case of the flat panel display device having the above structure, the following problems remain. That is, (1) the work of attaching the electrode structure to the fixed body with high precision is complicated. (2) Furthermore, as a measure against (1), when the electrode structure is attached by welding means such as spot welding or laser welding, the welding strength is low. (3) Due to the difference in thermal expansion between the electrode structure and the face glass in the thermal process in the manufacturing process, cracks or peeling occur in the low melting point glass for adhering the fixed body. (4) When the flat panel display device is large and the electrode structure is large, the electrode structure is thermally deformed by the heat generated during the electron beam generation as well as the thermal process in the manufacturing process, and stress is applied to the fixed body mounting portion. concentrate.

Due to the causes (2) to (4), there is a problem in reliability in a portion where the electrode assembly is attached to the fixed body or a portion where the fixed body is attached to the vacuum container. In some cases, it was not possible to maintain the strength that can withstand various reliability tests. In particular, cracks generated in the low-melting-point glass may reach not only the low-melting-point glass but also the face glass, leading to destruction of the vacuum container.

According to the above-mentioned means (4), the fixed body and the joining member are accurately positioned, and then fixed by welding means such as an energy beam, so that they can be directly screw-fixed while positioning as in the conventional case. There is no complexity. Also,
Since the joining member and the fixed body are fitted to each other to be in close contact with each other, it is possible to obtain a high-strength welded portion without using a complicated jig. Therefore, the electrode structure can be attached to the fixed body easily, highly accurately, and with high strength.
