Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide the manufacture of a spiral wire having a spiral groove simply and at low cost as well as a product thereof without performing any process such as cutting and grooving on a wire rod as a primary product constituted of a metallic round wire rod. CONSTITUTION:By forming the round wire into a polygonal wire by a polygonal die and by twisting and drawing the polygonal wire, the polygonal faces are changed into spiral grooves 2; and by further roll forming and drawing, a spiral wire rod like the spiral wire 1' though it is in a shape close to a round wire is obtained.

As shown in FIG. 1, in the first step, the metal wire 1 made of a round wire has a circular cross section and its cross-sectional area is uniform. First, the wire W is forced onto the polygonal die 10. And press it into the outlet 10b side from the inlet 10a side. The polygonal line 1 is formed by passing through the die hole of the polygonal die 10. When the wire material W becomes the polygonal wire 1, the drawing area is applied and simultaneously stretched, so that the cross-sectional area becomes small. By the drawing and stretching of the polygonal molding, the composition density of the wire is increased and the strength is increased.

In the second step, when the polygonal wire 1 obtained in the first step is supplied to the rolling die 11 and stretched at the same time as the diameter reduction and twisted by rotation, a polygonal surface is formed as shown in FIG. Becomes a twisted wire rod 1 ′ having a spiral groove 2.

Furthermore, when the twisted wire 1'obtained in the second step is supplied to the rolled round die 12 in the third step shown in FIG. 3 to carry out the secondary or tertiary drawing, the surface of the wire is It is flattened and becomes flat, and the spiral groove 2 in the second step is further flattened and becomes shallower. Since the drawing and drawing are applied in the second and third steps, the composition density of the wire is further increased.

FIG. 5 shows a spiral wire rod S formed through the above first to third steps. This spiral wire rod S is formed into a round rolling die again after the second step or the third step. When it is supplied in the opposite direction and further stretched while being rotated, a spiral groove 2'in the opposite direction is formed in a cross shape on the spiral groove 2 as shown in FIG.

As described above, according to the present invention, a metal wire made of a round wire is passed through a polygonal die to be stretched to form a polygonal line such as a quadrangle or a hexagon, and this polygonal line is further stretched simultaneously with twisting. By forming a twisted wire rod, a spiral groove with a polygonal surface is formed on the peripheral surface of the wire rod, and this is stretched by the second and third rolling dies to draw the surface smoothly. It is possible to easily and surely provide a spiral wire rod having a shallow groove width and a spiral groove of a full length,
Since the so-called loose spring effect is exerted by twisting, not only the elastic strength is increased, but also the strength against tension and bending is remarkably increased, and the formation of the spiral groove increases the frictional force as compared with a normal round wire. Therefore, it is expected to be applied to products in which slippage is a problem, and it has excellent effects such as easy molding and being inexpensive as a product.
