PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of the deodorant with the lapse of time, to improve a deodorization effect and to accelerate the composting of excreta by adding and dissolving either or both of citric acid or malic acid to and in an aq. soln. consisting essentially of ferrous sulfate. CONSTITUTION:The ferrous sulfate contains an anhydrous salt or 1-, 4-, 5-, 7-hydrous salts and usually the 7-hydrous salt is used. The ferrous sulfate of a saturation concn. or below, ordinary ferrous sulfate and about 10 to 25wt.% ferrous sulfate as the 7-hydrous salt are incorporated into the stock sol. of the deodorant compsn. This stock soln. is sprayed to the domestic animal excreta by diluting the soln. to about 10 to 60 times. The citric acid or malic acid is added to the compsn. at 1/2 to 1/50 the content of the ferrous sulfate and 7-hydrous salt. At least one kind among magnesium sulfate, manganese sulfate and potash alum may be added to the deodorant compsn. These components activate the effect of microorganisms and accelerate the composing of the excreta. The compsn. may contain the components known heretofore, for example, L-ascorbic acid and live fruit juice of citrus fruits.
