PURPOSE:To improve decoloration preventing property by incorporating a benzotriazole based rust preventive and a base oil of an ester based synthetic oil as main components to prevent the decoloration under a severe corrosive atmosphere such as salt water spraying. CONSTITUTION:This decoloration preventing agent for copper is composed of the benzotriazole based rust preventive (e.g. 5-methyl-benzotriazole) and the base oil of an ester base synthetic oil (e.g. neopentylpolyol ester) as main components. The decoloration preventing agent is prepared by dispersing or dissolving the rust preventive and the base oil into a solvent (e.g. alcoholic solvent, chlorinated hydrocarbon).
