DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION Field of Industrial Application The present invention provides paste-type positive and negative electrode plates using expanded or punched grids in a cylindrical or U-shaped
This invention relates to a method for manufacturing lead-acid batteries in which electrode plates are formed by bending them into a letter shape.

Structures of conventional examples and their problems Cast lattices have long been used for paste-type electrode plates of lead-acid batteries, but recently, expanded lattices, which are made by cutting and stretching lead or lead alloy sheets, and the above-mentioned expanded lattice have been used. Grids made by punching sheets are increasingly being used.

These expanded gratings and punched gratings are not only advantageous in making the electrode plate lighter and thinner than cast gratings, but also allow the grating to be manufactured as a continuous band-shaped sheet and filled with active material. This is extremely advantageous in terms of productivity.

Therefore, a method has been proposed that takes advantage of the characteristics of electrode plates using such expanded lattices or punched lattices, and forms a group of electrode plates by winding each electrode plate together with a separator into a roll. in this way,
When bending the electrode plate into a cylindrical or U-shape,
At the bend, the active material deforms together with the lattice,
Adhesion with the grid is impaired.

Structure of the Invention The present invention provides a paste-type electrode plate using an expanded grid or a punched grid, with grooves formed on the outside of the bending part by a method such as pressing, even if the radius of curvature is small. It is characterized by bending without causing material to fall off.

DESCRIPTION OF THE EMBODIMENTS FIG. 1 shows a paste-type electrode plate using an expanded grid. Reference numeral 1 denotes a band-shaped unformed electrode plate in which a lead alloy expanded grid 3 having ears 2 is filled with a paste-like active material 4. Reference numeral 5 denotes grooves formed by press working on the outer side of the bending portion when the electrode plate is bent into a U-shape, and in this example, three grooves are provided.

なお、第4図において、3′は格子の骨格を示す。
The number, spacing, and depth of these grooves vary depending on the degree of bending and the thickness of the electrode plate. For example, when bending an electrode plate with a thickness of about 1.5 mm to a radius of curvature of about 5 mm to form a U-shape as shown in Figure 3, three grooves with a groove depth of about 0.7 mm are provided as shown in the figure. Good results were obtained without impairing the adhesion between the lattice and the active material.
In addition, in FIG. 4, 3' indicates the skeleton of the lattice.

FIG. 5 shows an example of a plate group constructed by applying the above method. This electrode plate group consists of a long strip-shaped positive electrode plate 6 and a negative electrode plate 7 rolled together with a separator 8, and has a substantially rectangular cross section, and can be assembled into a square battery case to form a battery. .

Effects of the Invention As described above, according to the present invention, a strip-shaped electrode plate can be bent into a cylindrical shape or a U-shape with a small radius of curvature without impairing the adhesion between the active material and the lattice. Since it is possible to suppress the active material from falling off the lattice in the lattice part, it is possible to manufacture a lead-acid battery by taking advantage of the characteristics of the expanded lattice and the punched lattice.
