2. Description of the Related Art Recently, automatic teller machines used in financial institutions such as banks are increasingly being operated after regular business hours and even on holidays. This automatic deposit/withdrawal machine saves the trouble of replenishing and collecting banknotes and improves the efficiency of fund management. In order to improve the efficiency of fund management, this automatic deposit/withdrawal machine separates the deposited banknotes that have been identified as genuine into genuine and rejected banknotes that can be reused for withdrawal. The banknotes that are determined to be genuine are circulated for withdrawal. That is, automatic teller machines equipped with a so-called circulation-type deposit/withdrawal mechanism that circulates reusable regular banknotes for withdrawal are beginning to be put into practical use.

By the way, in the above-mentioned withdrawal transaction, when the banknotes 4 are conveyed, the jam passes along the conveyance paths 7, 8, 10 to 18.
When the jam occurs, a detector (not shown) provided in the traveling section of the banknote 4 or the running banknote detector 44 detects the jammed banknote 4.
Detect a. For example, when a jam occurs as shown in FIG. 1, the jammed banknote 4a located between the banknote guide 38 and the guide 42 is detected by the traveling banknote detector 44.

In this embodiment, the removal of the jammed banknote 4a at the banknote direction change point between the conveyance paths 11 and 12 has been described, but the removal of the jammed banknote 4a is not limited to that point. That is, even when jammed banknotes are jammed at unspecified locations on the conveyance paths 7, 8 and 11 to 18, the jammed banknotes can be removed by being conveyed at low speed to the jammed banknote storage section 45.
[Effects of the Invention] As described above, the automatic teller machine according to the present invention includes a banknote conveying means capable of conveying in two forward and reverse directions and in two high and low speeds, and a banknote jam that detects the jam of banknotes in the conveyance path. By providing the detection means, the bill guide means movably provided on the conveyance path, and the jam bill storage means installed near the bill guide means, the following effects are achieved.

That is, when a jam occurs on the conveyance path, the guide of the bill guide means corresponding to the jammed bill is released, the jammed bill returns at low speed in the opposite direction for a given distance, and then is transported again at low speed in the forward direction and is stored in the jammed bill. Since the device is stored in the device, the device is automatically restored in the event of a jam failure. Therefore, it can be operated after the general business hours of banks, etc. or on holidays, improving operational efficiency, and has the effect that it can be applied not only to automatic deposit and withdrawal machines, but also to automatic deposit machines and automatic payment machines.
