【特許請求の範囲】[Claims] 【請求項1】 静電潜像を顕像化したトナー像を担持す
る像担持体と、この像担持体上のトナー像を中間担持体
上に転移させる第1転移手段と、前記像担持体上の残留
トナーを除去する第1クリーニング手段と、前記中間担
持体上のトナー像を転写紙に転移させる第2転移手段
と、前記中間担持体上の残留トナーを除去する該中間担
持体に接離可能な第2クリーニング手段とを有し、前記
中間担持体上のトナー像が転写紙上に転移せず、中間担
持体上に未転移トナーが発生した場合に、第2クリーニ
ング手段を解除して中間担持体から離間し、第3転移手
段により中間担持体上の未転移トナー像を像担持体上に
転移させることを特徴とする画像形成方法。
1. 及び接触圧力を減少させることを特徴とする画像形成方

前記トナー像の帯電電位と逆極性のバイアス電位を印加
して転写バイアスローラ表面にトナーを保持し、中間担
持体の画像領域終了後に転写バイアスローラ表面上のト
ナーの帯電極性と同極性のバイアス電位を印加して中間
持体上にトナーを再付着させることを特徴とする画像形
成方法。
