(Prior Art) Various types of vehicle carriers of the above type are known. In this case, the cargo element has a round or square shape, which is accommodated in a sleeve at the upper end of the fastening device. Since the same loading platform must be used for various vehicles, the distance between the two securing devices at the ends of the loading element must be precisely adjustable. Furthermore, in order to increase the reliability of the cargo platform, the securing device must be securely connected to the cargo member that traverses the vehicle.

In conventional arrangements, the lateral load members are generally housed within a sleeve at the upper end of the fixation device, as previously discussed. In these older configurations, the interconnection between the load member and the securing device was invariably made with a screw assembly. There was therefore always a risk that the user of the carrier would forget to tighten the screws securing the securing device to the load member.

In the embodiment of FIG. 1, there is a U-shaped member (clamping member) 17 on the outside of the end of the load member 6. The U-shaped member (clamping member) 17 is designed as a pressure member which can engage with the upper side of the load member 6 with its bottom upwards. This U-shaped member 17 has two side flanges (arms) 19 that engage on the outside with the two legs 14 of the fixation device 7. The side flanges 19 of the U-shaped member 17 are connected to transverse rods 20, preferably of riveted construction. This rivet 20 extends linearly through an elongated hole 21 formed in the two legs 14 of the fixing device 7, and
It engages a cam member 22 having a cam surface 23 that abuts the underside of the support member 16 between. The cam member 22 rotates around the rivet 20, and when it rotates clockwise from the position shown in FIG. 1A, the cam surface 23 touches the support member 1.
As it moves along the underside of 6, it creates a downward force on the rivet. This downward force and the downward movement of the rivet 20 causes the U-shaped member 17 to move downward and press against the load member 6. Therefore, the load member 6 is sandwiched between the pressing member 18 and the support member 16 and is tightened and fixed within the fixing device 7.

As shown, the nut 13 is fixed to the cam member 22. Therefore, when the screw 12 is tightened, the cam member 22 rotates in the above-mentioned clockwise direction, and the load member 6 is held tightly between the pressing member 18 and the support member 16. When the screw 12 is tightened, the already described hook portion 11 rotates below the corner area 4,
The fixing device 7 is tightened and held at the side edge of the vehicle roof. For this purpose, an engaging portion 25 protruding toward the side surface 26 of the cam member 22 is provided at the upper end of the second engaging member.
There is. When the stop 24 comes into contact with the leg 14,
The cam member 22 is correctly positioned with respect to the fixing device and therefore the side surface 26 of the cam member 22 is also correctly positioned in the fixing device 7 to ensure a sufficient tightening effect between the second engagement member 10 and the foot. Obtained in 8 minutes.

In the illustrated embodiment of the configuration, screw 1 is first
2, the hook portion 11 first comes into loose contact with the corner region 4, and the cam member 22 rotates clockwise until the rotation is restricted by the stop 24. In this position, the load member 6 is safely clamped into the fastening device 7, but up to this position the second engagement member 10 has no clamping effect.
Therefore, even if the engagement between the foot section 8 and the roof 1 is incomplete, the loading platform itself is moved laterally (with respect to the vehicle's traveling direction) due to the lateral force applied to the entire loading platform caused by the second engaging member 10. ) will not be moved. The reason for this is that the loading platform is symmetrical, the force generated in one of the securing devices 7 is in the opposite direction to the force generated in the other securing device 7, and this force is transmitted in the two securing devices via the load member and its associated components. This is because they are mutually transmitted and canceled.

The embodiment described above can be easily modified for vehicles with conventional roof profiles or grooves. In such a variant, the second engagement member 10 is designed to engage the vehicle body below the roof profile.
However, in this case, the rotatable foot 8
is not necessary. Instead, a supporting foot that engages from within on the upper side of the roof profile or groove is shown in FIG.
The two legs 14 extend diagonally to the left and substantially parallel to the second engagement member 10 . This support foot may be completely fixedly attached to the two legs or may be formed integrally with the legs.

This embodiment works as follows. When the screw 12 is first tightened, the swinging member 28 is rotated counterclockwise until the hook portion 11 of the second engagement member 10 abuts the corner region 4 . When the screw 12 is further tightened, the swinging member 28 is connected to the cam member 22 by the joint 27, so the cam member 22 rotates clockwise about the rivet 20.
When the cam member rotates clockwise, the load member 6 is fixed to the fixing device. As the screw 12 continues to be tightened, the swinging member 28 further rotates counterclockwise.
The second engagement member is completely tightened onto the corner area 4 and the upper interface 5. The fastening device 7 is thus effectively fixed to the side edge of the vehicle roof.
