挾圧して送る定着装置に関する。

芯金上に弾性層とその上に四弗化エチレン樹脂か
ら成る表面層とを設けたもの(特開昭57−89785
号公報)や、芯金上に弾性層とその上に四弗化エ
チレン樹脂を含むフツ素ゴムから成る表面層とを
設けたもの(特開昭58−5770号、同58−27175号、
同58−90673号各公報)が用いられている。この
うち、前者のローラは、離型性が優れるが、表面
層と弾性層の弾性率の差が大きいため、厚紙のよ
うな記録材を連続して通すと、記録材の左右両端
が通過する位置の表面層に剪断力によるひゞ割れ
が生じ易いと言う問題がある。また、後者のロー
ラは、表面層も比較的大きな弾性を示して表面層
と弾性層の弾性率の差が少ないため、表面層に
ひゞ割れが生ずることはないが、表面層における
四弗化エチレン樹脂の層が非常に薄く、そのため
に耐久性が劣り、オフセツトが発生し易いと言う
問題がある。

て送る定着装置において、前記両ローラが芯金上
に層厚が大でゴム硬度が小さい弾性体層とその上
に層厚が小でゴム硬度が大きい弾性体層とその上
に層厚が最も小で弗素樹脂から成る表面層とを有
し、且つ加熱ローラの前記2層の弾性体層のそれ
ぞれの層厚より加圧ローラの前記2層の弾性体層
のそれぞれの層厚の方がいずれも大であることを
特徴とする定着装置にあり、この構成によつて上
記目的を達成したものである。

性層にはシリコンゴムが好ましく用いられ、そし
て高硬度弾性層にはゴム硬度70°〜90°の範囲のも
のが、また低硬度弾性層にはゴム硬度25°〜40°の
範囲のものが好ましく用いられる。

録材Pのトナー像の定着を行つたところ、記録材

熱ローラ1や加圧ローラ2が耐久性に優れてひび
割れやオフセツトの生ずることが無く、安定して
良好な定着がなされた。

弾性体層のそれぞれの層厚の方がいずれも大であ
る。ローラを用いたことによつて、ローラの耐久
性が優れてひゞ割れやオフセツトの生ずることが
無くなり、安定して良好な定着を行うことができ
ると言う優れた効果を奏する。
