In diesel engines for vehicles, a water separator is disposed between a fuel tank and a fuel pump of the engine to separate and remove water contained in the fuel. The water separated by the water separation device accumulates at the bottom of the container due to the difference in specific gravity with the fuel, but when the water level exceeds a predetermined level, it is sent from the outlet of the device to the engine together with the fuel, corroding the fuel pump and the like. Therefore, a means is taken to detect the water level in the water separator, and when the water level reaches a predetermined level, the discharge valve is opened and the water is discharged. In this method, an electrode connected to the alarm is provided at the bottom of the container, the metal container is used as the other electrode, and the alarm is activated by the conduction between the two electrodes due to water.

In the above devices, the container that serves as the electrode must be made of metal, the electrode at the bottom of the container must be long enough to reach the predetermined water level to be alerted, and the portion other than the tip must be insulated. Therefore, there are problems in that the structure is complicated and heavy.

Therefore, the applicant has proposed a lightweight water separation device that does not require long electrodes. As shown in FIG. 2, this adapter has an inverted plate shape, which has an inlet 1 and an outlet 2, and a boss 3 at the center of the lower surface. At the bottom of the boss 3, there is a separator 5 made of wire mesh, nonwoven fabric, etc. Funnel-shaped guides 11 are arranged one on top of the other. A plurality of metal upper electrodes 1 are arranged around the lower part of the guide 11.
It has 2. A cup-shaped resin container 6 is attached to the lower end of the adapter 10 with a cap nut 7. A lower electrode 8 and a discharge valve 9 are provided at the bottom of the container 6 . In such a water separator, fuel enters from an inlet 1, passes through a separator 5, flows along a guide 11, turns upward at the lower end of the guide 11, and is supplied to an engine or the like from an outlet 2. When the fuel passes through the separator 5, moisture contained in the fuel is separated, and as it flows along the guide 11, it gradually aggregates and grows, and accumulates at the bottom of the container 6. and container 6
When the water level of the water accumulated at the bottom rises and reaches the lower end of the upper electrode 12, it becomes conductive with the upper electrode 8 at the lower end of the container 6, and the alarm is activated. Container 6
Open the drain valve 9 at the bottom to drain the accumulated water.

By the way, the water separation device described above does not require long electrodes, is lightweight, and has a simple structure, but the upper electrode 12 is made of metal, and since it is necessary to allow current to flow, the guide 11 is also made of metal. There is a need. Therefore, with long-term use, the upper electrode 12 and the guide 11 corrode, resulting in a phenomenon in which the water level detection function deteriorates or becomes impossible, resulting in troubles due to water being sucked into the engine or the like.

Fuel containing water enters from the inlet and rapidly diffuses into the container, causing it to be separated into fuel and water due to differences in surface tension and specific gravity. The separated water further aggregates and grows while flowing down along the guide, falls from the lower end of the guide, and accumulates at the bottom of the container. The water gradually increases and when the water level reaches the lower end of the small-diameter pipe of the upper electrode, electrical continuity is established between the lower electrode at the bottom of the container and the alarm is activated. During this time, the integrally molded upper electrode or guide and small diameter pipe will not be corroded even if they come into contact with water contained in the fuel or separated water. Based on the notification from the alarm, the drain valve is opened to drain the water, and the water is reused again in its initial state.

As described above, according to the present invention, instead of using a metal piece as the upper electrode for detecting the water level, an electrode made of conductive synthetic resin is used, and the guide and the small diameter pipe are integrally formed. Even after long-term use, neither the guide nor the small-diameter pipe will corrode, and the water level detection function will not deteriorate or become impossible. Therefore, troubles caused by water being inhaled into the engine can be prevented.
Furthermore, since the guide and the small-diameter pipe are integrally constructed, attachment to the adapter is easy and reliable, and conduction failures do not occur.
In addition, since the guide part of the upper electrode is also made of conductive resin, this part will not corrode.
Moreover, it can serve as an electrode when tilting.
