This idea was created in view of the problems mentioned above.
A water reservoir is installed in the filter to purify liquid fuel.
By configuring a bolt-shaped boss having a drain for discharging accumulated water and integrally attaching a drain plug and a water amount detector to the lower end of the water basin body, it is possible to simply The drain plug and water level detector can be attached to the water reservoir body simply by screwing on the boss. Therefore, it is only necessary to form a boss mounting hole in the water reservoir body, making the structure extremely simple. It is an object of the present invention to provide a fuel filter whose processing and assembly work are facilitated, and whose boss can be removed from a water reservoir body to easily maintain and inspect a water amount detector and a drain.

In the figure, 1 is a thin cylindrical water reservoir main body, 2 is an annular filter section provided in the upper half of this water reservoir main body,

3 is a cover block attached to the upper end of the water reservoir main body 1 so as to cover the filter section 2 from above;
This cover block 3 is provided with an inlet port 4 for introducing liquid fuel such as gasoline into the interior, and an outlet port 1-5 for discharging purified fuel to the outside. has an annular groove that communicates with the inflow port 4 and corresponds to the upper end surface of the filter section 2, and a flow path for communicating the center portion B of the filter section 2 and the outflow port 5 (both are not shown). Therefore, when fuel flows in from a fuel tank or the like through the fuel hose connected to the inflow port 4, the fuel flows uniformly down from the annular groove in the cover block to the upper end surface of the filter section and flows inside the filter section 2. Impurities in the fuel are removed during the passage.

In addition, since the water contained in the fuel has a high specific gravity, it accumulates at the lower end of the water storage section A, and the purified fuel passes through the flow path in the cover block 3 from the center section B of the filter and flows out as described above. It flows out from port 5 and is supplied to the engine, etc.

The guide rod 8 is made of a non-magnetic material, and has a reed switch 9 fixed therein, and a ring-shaped float 10 is fitted on the outer periphery of the guide rod 8 so as to be slidable in the vertical direction. A stopper 8a is provided at the tip of the guide rod.

This float 10 has a ring-shaped magnet 11 embedded inside thereof, and is made of, for example, molded from synthetic resin with the magnet as an insert. It is configured to have specific gravity.

Therefore, in the state shown in the figure where there is almost no water in the water reservoir A, the flow (10) is located at the lower position and the reed switch 9 is off, but water gradually accumulates. When the float 10 rises little by little and the water surface reaches approximately two-thirds of the height of the water reservoir A, the magnet 11 inside the float turns on the reed switch 9 inside the guide rod 8. It has become.

13 is a drain plug mounting hole provided in the boss 7; 14 is a drain formed in the boss 7 so as to communicate this mounting hole with the inside of the water reservoir A; A drain plug 15 having a T-shaped discharge hole 15a is screwed onto the drain plug 15.

Further, the tip of the drain plug 15 is formed to have a smaller diameter than the diameter of the attachment hole 13, and a discharge hole 15a is opened in this small diameter portion.

Therefore, when the drain plug 15 is loosened, the taper part opens the drain 14, and the water in the water storage part A flows out from the drain 14, passes through the gap between the small diameter part of the drain plug and the mounting hole 13, and enters the drain hole 15. As described above, the fuel filter according to this invention is equipped with a water reservoir at the bottom of the filter, and a mounting hole is formed at the lower end of the water reservoir, and a reservoir water amount detector and a drain plug are attached to this mounting hole. Since the bolt-shaped boss is screwed on, the structure of the water reservoir body is simpler than conventional ones, and the accumulated water amount detector and drain plug can be installed simply by screwing on the boss. Therefore, machining and assembly work are facilitated, and maintenance is also extremely easy because the accumulated water amount detector and the drain can be easily inspected by removing only the boss from the water reservoir.

In addition, since the accumulated water amount detector is composed of a reed switch placed inside the guide rod and a float with a magnet fitted to the guide rod, assembly is easy, switch operation is stable, and detection is possible. Since the reed switch is isolated from the outside atmosphere, there are advantages such as fewer failures.
