The carvings used on traditional Buddhist altars are carved into the surface of a single board to create a three-dimensional pattern.
In order to increase the three-dimensional effect of this sculpture, it was necessary to carve the thick wood deeply and into the deepest details.
For this reason, it has the disadvantage that processing is time-consuming and expensive. In order to eliminate this drawback, the inventor of the present invention has created a three-dimensional effect by overlapping two front and back plates with a engraved pattern on their surfaces with a gap between them. Succeeded in manufacturing sculptures at low cost (publication number 38942 of 1983). Carvings with this structure have carved holes carved into the top plate. The back plate has an engraved pattern engraved on the front plate that can be seen through the engraved hole in the front plate. By stacking the front and back plates apart from each other, it is possible to create an engraved pattern with a three-dimensional effect that cannot be achieved with a single piece of engraving.

With this structure, the front plate and back plate are engraved separately, so complex three-dimensional patterns can be created.
However, the surface finishing of the back plate is extremely time consuming, and it is extremely difficult to perform a surface treatment on every corner of the back plate. The reason for this is that a surface finishing paint is applied to the surface of the back plate through the engraved holes in the front plate. In particular, in order to give the sculpture a three-dimensional feel,
The wider the distance between the back plate and the front plate, the further the back plate is located from the engraving hole, making it more difficult to finish the entire surface of the back plate with a three-dimensional pattern. This drawback can be overcome by surface finishing the front and back plates before joining them together. However, in the actual manufacturing process of Buddhist altars, it is not possible to finish the surface of the front plate and the back plate before fixing them. This is because it is almost impossible to repair the front and back plates, which are finished separately, if they are damaged during the assembly process. For this reason, engravings in which a front plate and a back plate are laminated to form a three-dimensional pattern are extremely high-class and have an excellent three-dimensional effect, but they have the disadvantage that surface treatment is difficult and painting costs are high. Furthermore, a structure in which the front plate and back plate are three-dimensionally engraved and then laminated has the disadvantage that the use of high-quality Japanese wood increases the material cost. This invention was developed with the aim of resolving these shortcomings, and the important purpose of this invention is to use high-quality Japanese wood to produce large quantities at low cost, and to have three-dimensional uneven parts. The goal is to provide engravings that can be finished with a beautiful surface. Another important object of this invention is to provide an engraving that can be easily cleaned of dust accumulated between the front plate and the back plate.

An embodiment of this invention will be described below based on the drawings. However, the example shown below is an example of a sculpture to embody the technical idea of this invention, and the sculpture of this invention has the material, shape, structure, and arrangement of the component parts as shown below. It is not specific. Various changes may be made to the sculpture of this invention within the scope of the claims for utility model registration. Further, in this specification, numbers corresponding to the members shown in the embodiments are added to the members shown in the claims for utility model registration so that the claims for utility model registration can be easily understood. However, the members described in the claims for utility model registration are by no means limited to the members shown in the examples. The carvings for Buddhist altars shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 are used for decoration by being attached to the upper front of the Buddhist altar or to the door, for example. This sculpture consists of a front plate 1 and a back plate 2 disposed on the back side of the front plate 1. The top plate 1 and the back plate 2 are made of high quality wood such as Japanese oak. The front plate 1 is formed into a frame shape with a large opening throughout so that the back plate 2 can be seen from almost the entire center part other than the outer periphery, and the front side of the engraved pattern on the surface of the back plate can be exposed on the front surface. ing. Since almost the entire surface of the back plate 2 can be seen through the front plate 1, a carved pattern is engraved almost on the front surface. Furthermore, as shown in Figures 1 to 5, the back plate has a carved pattern engraved on the entire surface of the karaki, and a carved piece 3 cut into small pieces is glued to the surface, so that the carved piece 3 is exposed. It protrudes inside the plate 1 and is fixed.
The engraving piece 3 is fixed to the back plate by adhesion or, as shown in FIG. 4, by fitting and adhesion via a dowel 4. The back plate 2 shown in FIG. 3 has grooves carved in parallel on its surface, and an engraved piece 3 is fixed thereto. Figures 2 and 3
The engraving piece 3 shown in the figures has a three-dimensional pattern engraved on both the front and back surfaces. When attaching the top plate 1 to the outer periphery of the back plate 2, the back plate 2
The outer circumferential portion and the back surface of the top plate 1 are made planar, and both planar portions are bonded with an adhesive so that they are in surface contact. However, in this invention, it is not always necessary to bond the front plate 1 and the back plate 2, and it is also possible to attach them to the Buddhist altar in close contact with each other.

This invented carving for a Buddhist altar has a back plate attached to the back of the front plate, and the front plate and back plate form a three-dimensional pattern. This type of carving has the advantage of simplifying the carving process and creating an excellent three-dimensional effect, compared to deeply carving a single thick board. In addition, even though two plates are laminated, engraving with this structure can easily and easily cover the entire surface of the back plate.
It has the advantage of being able to cleanly treat the surface. This is because, in addition to stacking the front plate on the back plate without any gaps, the overall shape of the front plate is shaped like a frame, and the entire central part of the back plate is exposed in front of the sculpture. With this structure, engravings can be finished neatly from the large opening on the front board to every corner of the back board. In order to simplify the surface finishing of the back plate, if the front plate is made into a frame shape with a large opening in the center, the sculpture will have less of a three-dimensional effect in the center. In order to solve this problem, the engraving of this invention has a plurality of engraving pieces fixed to the front of the back plate, protruding inside the frame-shaped front plate. The carved piece fixed to the back plate and protruding inside the front plate forms an extremely beautiful three-dimensional pattern between the front plate and the back plate. In particular, since the engraving piece is fixed to the back plate, there is no need to connect the engraving piece to the front plate. The engraving piece can be separated from the top plate and fixed. Therefore, it is possible to give a beautiful three-dimensional effect to the central part of the engraving piece without narrowing the gap between the engraving piece and the top plate. Unlike conventional engravings, there is no need to apply surface paint to the back plate to which a plurality of carved pieces are fixed through the engraved holes in the front plate. The carved piece is located in a large opening in the center of the top plate and protrudes from the front, making it easy to finish the surface neatly in every corner. Furthermore, a noteworthy feature of this invention is that in addition to being able to reduce manufacturing costs by simplifying engraving work and painting work, it also reduces material costs and allows for inexpensive mass production. This feature is
This was achieved by effectively reusing the scrap wood from which the central part of the top was removed as a piece of sculpture.
By using high-quality karaki for the top plate and the carving pieces, the sculpture of this structure can be made into a high-grade sculpture that is almost indistinguishable from deeply carved pieces of thick karaki. Furthermore, the engraving hole of this invention does not create a gap between the front plate and the back plate, and the frame-shaped top plate
Since the outer periphery of the back plate is covered and most of the front side of the back plate is open, dust that accumulates between the front plate and the back plate can be removed extremely easily, making it possible to remove sculptures for Buddhist altars with complex patterns that tend to accumulate dust. A feature that allows it to be held neatly can be realized.
