Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a neutral viscous microbicide composition having a viscosity suitable for use, exhibiting highly durable microbicidal activity after application and giving smooth skin. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition can be produced by compounding (A) 50-95vol.% of ethyl alcohol, (B) 0.1-3.0wt.% (preferably 0.5-1.0wt.%) of a carboxyvinyl polymer having a molecular weight of preferably 1,000,000-4,000,000, especially about 1,000,000, (C) 0.01-2.0wt.% (preferably 0.1-0.5wt.%) of an alkanolamine, e.g. an amine selected from mono, di and triethanolamines and (D) 5-50vol.% of water. The obtained mixture is optionally incorporated with one or more compounds selected from quaternary ammonium salt (e.g. benzalkonium chloride) and a fatty acid ester (e.g. glycerol fatty acid ester and sucrose fatty acid ester) to obtain a viscous microbicide composition useful for the disinfection of fingers and having a pH of preferably 5-8, especially 6-7.

[Prior Art] Hand disinfectants are alcohol-based disinfectants containing 60 to 90% by volume of ethyl alcohol and sterilizers containing 10% by weight of benzalkonium chloride, which have strong bactericidal power and are less irritating to the skin. Sterilization methods using disinfectants or alcohol sprayers are known.

[Means for Solving the Problems] The inventors of the present application have developed a product that has an appropriate viscosity, suppresses evaporation of alcohol in order to maintain the sterilizing effect after use, and leaves the skin smooth. As a result of various studies on viscous disinfectant compositions mainly composed of ethyl alcohol for hand sterilization, which are excellent in neutrality, we have found that a specific polymer compound and an alkaline agent are contained in an ethyl alcohol-water system in a predetermined ratio. The present inventors have found that a composition suitable for the above-mentioned purpose has led to the completion of this invention.

[0009] Carboxyvinyl polymer also functions as a thickener (gelling agent) for ethyl alcohol-water systems,
For example, it is an acidic synthetic polymer carboxylic acid in which a carboxyl group (content: 57.7-63.4%) is bonded to a multi-branched cross-linked polymer main chain, and its molecular weight is approximately 1 million to 63.4%.
Good viscosity was obtained for all molecular weights of about 4,000,000, and among them, the best adhesiveness was obtained for those with a molecular weight of about 1,000,000. In addition, regarding the sustainability of the bactericidal effect after use, the addition of carboxyvinyl polymers of any of the above molecular weights was found to be significantly more effective than simple 75% ethyl alcohol without the addition of a thickener. Furthermore, the feel on the skin after use was the same by adding carboxyvinyl polymer with the above molecular weight, but other thickeners such as xanthan gum, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, and polyvinyl Although pyrrolidone and polyvinyl alcohol were added in the same manner, the viscosity, durability of bactericidal efficacy after use, and feel to the skin were not fully satisfactory.

When this neutral viscous disinfectant composition is used, after a part of the ethyl alcohol has evaporated, the alkanolamine salt of carboxyvinyl polymer, which is a thickener (gelling agent) component, is It is presumed that since a film is formed on the skin, further evaporation of ethyl alcohol is suppressed, thereby sustaining the bactericidal effect and at the same time providing a smooth feel to the skin.
