Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent part of the conditioned air from being entangled with the air in a room to be sucked to a suction port and to alter a position of an air outlet as required even if the conditioned air is blown off downward from the outlet. CONSTITUTION:A suction duct 14 of a shape including center parts of both long sides, and a blow-off duct 15 of a shape including both ends of both the long sides and both short sides, are formed in a lower part in a rectangular unit body 2. Any of a first rectangular ceiling panel 8 having a pair of suction ports 3 formed at both long sides and air outlets 4 formed at both sides of the ports 3 or a second rectangular ceiling panel 8 having a pair of suction ports 3 formed at both long sides and a pair of air outlets 4 formed at both short sides is selected, and so mounted as to cover the lower opening of the body 2.

[Problems to be Solved by the Invention] In the above-mentioned conventional air conditioner, room air is taken in through the suction port 3 formed in the center of the rectangular ceiling panel 8, and the conditioned air is sucked in from both short sides of the rectangular ceiling panel 8. Since the air is blown out from the air outlet 4 formed along the side, a part of the conditioned air blown out from the air outlet 4 is caught up in the flow of indoor air sucked into the air inlet 3 and sucked into the air inlet 3. There is a problem in that a so-called shortcut phenomenon tends to occur. Furthermore, since the position of the air outlet 4 cannot be changed, it may not be possible to evenly distribute conditioned air throughout the room.

[0013] When a plurality of air conditioners are arranged in a row at intervals so that the longitudinal directions of the air conditioners coincide with each other on the center line along the longitudinal direction of a large and narrow room, the first air conditioner shown in FIG. By attaching the rectangular ceiling panel 8 to the unit main body 2, it is possible to evenly inhale indoor air from the long and narrow room and evenly distribute conditioned air to the long and narrow room. Since the suction port 3 and the blowout port 4 are aligned in a straight line, the aesthetic appearance of the room can be improved, and even if hot air is blown downward from the blowout port 4, a portion of the indoor air is sucked into the suction port 3. It is possible to prevent the occurrence of the so-called shortcut phenomenon where the user gets caught up in the flow.

Further, when this air conditioner is installed in the center of a substantially square room, a second rectangular ceiling panel 8 shown in FIG. 3 may be attached to the unit body 2. In this case as well, since the suction port 3 and the blowout port 4 are spaced apart from each other and form a right angle, it is possible to prevent the so-called shortcut phenomenon from occurring.

In the above embodiment, the flat heat exchanger 7 is installed, but as shown in FIG. 4, the heat exchanger 7 can be arcuate. The heat exchange area of 7 and the air circulation area can be increased, and the length of the outlet 4 can be increased. Further, it is sufficient that the suction air passage 14 has a shape that includes the center portions of both long sides at least in the lower part of the unit main body 2, and the blowing air passage 15 has a shape that includes the center portions of both long sides of the unit main body 2 at least in the lower part thereof. A shape including both short sides is sufficient.

[Effect of the invention] In the present invention, a suction air path is formed in the unit main body at least at its lower part in a shape that includes the center of both long sides thereof, and also includes both ends of both long sides and both short sides. A rectangular ceiling panel with a pair of inlets along both long sides and air outlets adjacent to both sides of the inlet, or a pair of inlets along both long sides. A rectangular ceiling panel provided with a pair of air outlets along both short sides can be selected as needed and attached to the unit body. In this way, indoor air can be taken in through a pair of inlets formed in the center along both long sides of the rectangular ceiling panel, and conditioned air can be drawn in through a pair of outlets formed along both short sides of the rectangular ceiling panel. Alternatively, the air can be blown out from four air outlets formed at both ends of the rectangular ceiling panel along both long sides. As a result, indoor air can be evenly inhaled from the room, and conditioned air can be evenly distributed throughout the room. Also, even if the conditioned air is blown downward from the outlet, a portion of it will reach the inlet. It is possible to prevent the occurrence of so-called shortcuts caused by being caught in the flow of indoor air being sucked in.
