However, in the method using an organic antibacterial agent (a), since the antibacterial agent is impregnated into organic fibers or fibrous bodies, a large amount of the antibacterial agent is eluted, and there are problems with toxicity and sustainability of the antibacterial effect. The method of supporting silver ions (the above method) has a problem with the elution of silver ions. In other words, since silver is supported by ions, the rate of elution into water is higher than that of metals, and the rate of elution is also high, so there is a problem with stability. Furthermore, the high elution rate of silver causes the concentration of silver ions in the fibrous body carrying silver ions to drop in a short time, which also poses a problem in the sustainability of antibacterial action. The method of containing Cu or CuS (above C) has a problem with Cu coating or CuS coating.

As a result of diligent efforts to improve the above-mentioned shortcomings,
The present inventors have discovered a silver-containing antibacterial fiber that has excellent bactericidal properties, is easy to adjust, is safe, has excellent durability, and has colorability because it is white and has versatility.

If silver is supported in the form of ions rather than metal, there is a problem that when it is held in water in this state, the amount of silver ions eluted increases, and silver is supported only in a very thin layer of the fiber body. Therefore, the absolute amount of silver is small, and there are problems with sustainability.

Therefore, the silver-containing antibacterial fiber of the present invention contains silver in a metallic state, so that the elution amount of silver ions I PPb
The content was controlled to 1 ppm or less. Silver ion concentration is I P
When the amount is less than pb, the bactericidal effect of eluted silver is so small that no practical effect is exhibited. On the other hand, if the silver ion concentration is more than 1 ppm, the eluted silver may cause environmental problems, which is not preferable.

The silver-containing antibacterial fiber of the present invention was placed in tap water at 25°C for 24 hours.
The figure shows the change over time in the amount of silver ions eluted (curve 1) when immersion was repeated over time. For comparison, change over time in the amount of silver ions eluted from a conventional antibacterial fiber carrying silver ions C

As shown in FIG.
It is constant and persistent in the ppb range. On the other hand, in the conventional fibrous body, as shown in curve 2, the amount of silver eluted gradually decreases and is not sustainable.

The silver-containing antibacterial fibrous body of the present invention can be obtained by mixing organic fibers containing silver and organic fibers not containing silver in an arbitrary ratio and then forming the mixture into a fibrous body. By incorporating silver using such a method and changing the concentration of silver in the fiber body at an arbitrary rate, the rate of silver elution can be controlled.

The organic fibers used in the present invention include natural and synthetic organic fibers, ie, fibers such as cotton, hemp, regenerated cellulose, polyamide, acrylic, polyolefin, and polyester. The thickness of organic fiber is 0.1 to 15 d (denier)
is preferable. If it is thinner than 0.1 d, a large amount of silver coating is required and it is not economical. If it is thicker than 15 d, the fiber becomes hard and loses its flexibility.

Methods for incorporating metallic silver into organic fibers include electroless plating methods, vacuum evaporation methods, and the like. Considering uniformity, mass productivity, and economic efficiency, it is preferable to coat the organic fibers with silver using electroless plating methods. The amount of silver coating can be arbitrarily selected. The preferred silver content is 10% to 30% by weight. If it is less than 10% by weight, the fibers cannot be sufficiently coated, and if it exceeds 30% by weight, the specific gravity of the entire fiber increases and the antibacterial effect reaches its peak, which is undesirable. All silver ions in the plating solution are reduced and precipitated. Therefore, the desired amount of coating can be obtained by using a plating solution containing silver ions in an amount corresponding to the amount of coating with respect to the amount of fibers.

As is clear from the examples, the silver-containing antibacterial fiber of the present invention has an excellent bactericidal effect even with a small amount of silver content, has a long-lasting antibacterial effect, and is extremely stable against temperature. Therefore, it has high reliability. Furthermore, since it is white to silvery white, it is preferable for sanitary products and is also excellent in coloring. Furthermore, although it has a bactericidal effect, it can be safely used even if it comes into contact with the human body because it is made of metallic silver.

Example 1 Acrylic fiber (1.5d x 38mm) was immersed in a scouring agent, washed with water, stannous chloride l Og/l, and hydrochloric acid 20ml.
After immersion in an aqueous solution containing A/1 for 1 hour, the sample was washed with water to impart catalytic properties to electroless silver plating. Thereafter, silver was coated using a predetermined amount of a silver plating solution having the following composition. Since all the silver ions in the plating solution are reduced and precipitated, a plating solution containing silver ions in an amount corresponding to the amount of coating was used. 6 polyester fibers not coated with silver were added to the obtained silver-coated fibers.
After mixing at 0% by weight, the mixture was spun into a yarn with a count of 20.
