Abstract

PURPOSE:To sufficiently assure the brightness of discharge tubes on the lower part side of a display section and to decrease the brightness in the upper and lower parts of the display section by providing heaters in the lower part of the display section which uses the discharge tubes as display elements. CONSTITUTION:The heaters 2 are respectively disposed by one piece each on the lower side of the respective display units 21 in the lowermost part of the display section 4 which uses the discharge tubes at the display elements. The temp. of the display section 4 is controlled by operating a ventilation fan 18 and the heaters 32 to prevent the excessive rise of the temp. in the display section 4 at the time of displaying images and characters, etc., over the entire part of the display section 4. The display units 22 in the lower part are heated form the lower side to increase the temp. in the lower part of the display section 4 and to decrease the temp. difference between the upper and lower parts of the display section 4 by energizing the heaters 32 to generate heat. The brightness of the discharge tubes 23 of the display units 22 on the lower part side of the display section 4 is sufficiently assured and the generation of unequal brightness between the upper and lower parts of the display section 4 is prevented even in a cold season, such as winter in particular.
