し適切な温度に昇温する昇温炉における溶湯の湯
面レベル検出装置であつて、前記昇温炉の底部近
傍でこの昇温炉内の溶湯と接触して成る底部電極
と、前記昇温炉の内壁に垂直方向に所定の間隔を
おいて配置され各位置でこの昇温炉内の溶湯と接
触し得るようにして成る複数の湯面レベル検出電
極と、前記昇温炉外に配置され前記湯面レベル検
出電極の各々と電気的に接続された検知器と、一
方の極が前記検知器と接続され他方の極が前記底
部電極と接続された電源とより成り、前記底部電
極と各々の前記湯面レベル検出電極との通電によ
り各々の湯面レベルを検出するようにした湯面レ
ベル検出装置において、前記湯面レベル検出電極
の各々が配置される昇温炉の内壁に凹部が形成さ
れ、前記湯面レベル検出電極の各々の先端が前記
凹部の底面から突出しないように前記凹部に前記
湯面レベル検出電極の各々が挿入されていること
