Due to these properties, attempts have been made to use it as a waterproof coating, but when applied as a solution, the adhesion to the substrate, tensile strength, weather resistance, and abrasion resistance are fully satisfactory. Unable to find what needed to be done, in the end, the method used for waterproofing was to form butyl rubber into sheets and paste them with adhesive on site for waterproofing work.

As a result of repeated research into waterproof coatings that take advantage of the waterproof performance of butyl rubber and have excellent adhesion to substrates, tensile strength, weather resistance, abrasion resistance, and elasticity, the inventors have developed an isocyanate compound as a curing agent. The present inventors have discovered that a waterproof coating having the above-mentioned properties can be obtained by using the above-described materials and further mixing natural rubber powder and/or silica sand powder, leading to the present invention.

Example 200kg of butyl rubber was dissolved in 80g of toluene, thoroughly stirred, and 25kg of natural rubber powder having a particle size of 40 mesh or less was mixed with the main waterproof coating material 200 consisting of a toluene solution of butyl rubber, and the mixture was left homogeneous for about 3 hours. Stir thoroughly until mixed. If this mixing and stirring is not carried out sufficiently, the resulting coating film will be non-uniform and will not have sufficient weather resistance.

Paraphenylene diisocyanate (No. 7) was mixed with this, and it was applied to a flexible board to a thickness of approximately 2 mm. After 14 days, a physical property test was requested to the East Branch Inspection Center of the Japan Paint Inspection Association, and the following results were obtained. I got it.

It was confirmed that the one in which silica sand was added, and the one in which a main waterproofing coating agent containing only silica sand powder was used showed almost the same physical properties as above, and that a strong waterproof coating film could be obtained in both cases.
