Due to these properties, attempts have been made to use it as a waterproof coating, but when applied as a solution, the adhesion to the substrate, tensile strength, weather resistance, and abrasion resistance are fully satisfactory. What should have been done could not be changed, and in the end, the method used for waterproofing was to form butyl rubber into sheets and paste them with adhesive on site for waterproofing work.

As a result of repeated research into waterproof coatings that take advantage of the waterproof performance of butyl rubber and have excellent adhesion to substrates, tensile strength, weather resistance, and abrasion resistance, the inventors have discovered the use of isocyanate compounds as the curing agent. The inventors have discovered that a waterproof coating having the above-mentioned properties can be obtained by doing so, and have thus arrived at the present invention.
