Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a printed bent cylindrical body having fine appearance by bending a bendable cylindrical body to be printed after printing on the curved surface. CONSTITUTION:A body 1 to be printed is formed in a straight cylindrical shape with a bendable material such as thermosoftening synthetic resin. A printed pattern 2 such as a grain pattern is transferred to the outer surface of the body 1 by a liq. pressure transfer process and the body 1 is bent to produce a bent cylindrical body. In this bending stage, the pattern 2 is inspected and the body 1 is bent with the prescribed part of the pattern 2 outside 3 to obtain fine appearance.

<Prior art> Conventional manufacturing methods of this type include the hydraulic transfer method 1, for example, Japanese Patent Publication No. 41 of 1971, by applying a printing material made in the shape of a bent rod in advance.
Curved surfaces were printed on the outer surface by processing using the printing method disclosed in Japanese Patent No. 682.

When performing such curved surface printing, the
As disclosed in Japanese Patent No. 754, a method is often adopted in which the printing material is brought into contact with the transfer film from an oblique direction and immersed in water, and in this way, the transfer film moves on the water surface. It is easy to position printed matter with respect to the transfer pattern, and it is possible to perform similar curved printing on a large number of printed matter.

<Problems to be Solved by the Invention> In the conventional printing method, the transfer film is applied to the printing material from the direction of movement of the printing material by bringing the printing material into contact with the transfer film from diagonally above, thereby covering the transferred pattern. Since the printing pattern was formed on the outer surface of the printing material by transferring it to the printed material, a good printing effect could be obtained when the printing material was a plate-shaped object, a rod-shaped object, or a box-shaped object, but the printing pattern was bent. In the case of a rod-shaped object, such as an umbrella handle, good printing results are not necessarily obtained, and in particular, when the transferred pattern is a wood grain pattern, there is a problem in that printing unevenness and printing misalignment are noticeable.

This is because if the printing material is a bent rod, it becomes difficult for the transfer pattern of the transfer film to adhere to the entire surface of the printing material.Especially when you want to display the main part of the printing pattern on the curved outer surface of the printing material, Since the curved outer surface of the printing material is brought into contact with the transfer pattern of the transfer film, the transfer film often does not fully adhere to the curved inner surface on the back side. This is noticeable when the curvature of the printing material is large.

Furthermore, as mentioned above, when a curved rod is used as the printing material, it is necessary to bring the center of the bent outer surface of the rod into contact with the center of the transfer pattern, which requires precision in positioning the printing material. Therefore, there is a problem in that large-scale processing is hindered because the work of attaching the printing material to the jig of the skew feeding mechanism is troublesome, and the positional deviation of the printing material is likely to occur. There is also a problem.

Means for Solving the Problems> In the method of the present invention, a straight rod made of a bendable material is used as the printing material l, and curved surface printing is applied to this straight rod by a hydraulic transfer method. After that, the straight rod is bent into a U shape using a predetermined portion of the printed pattern 2 as the bent back surface 3, thereby manufacturing a bent rod with a curved surface printed thereon.

If the printing material 1 is a long rod, the printing material 1 is placed on the transfer film 4 which is spread horizontally on the liquid, facing parallel to the transfer film, and brought into contact with the transfer pattern 5. By this, a seam of the transfer film 4 is formed on the upper surface of the printing material l at the time of transfer in the longitudinal direction of the printing material, and the printed portion 2b formed by this seam is used as a bent inner surface 3' to form the printing material. 1 is bent and formed.

On the other hand, if the printing material 1 is a short rod, it is held in a vertical position and brought into contact with the transfer film 4, and the printing material is immersed in water for the required length, that is, the length that can form the printing surface. .

In this case, since the printing pattern 2 of the printing material l is different on the front and rear surfaces and the left and right surfaces, if a good pair of printing surfaces is selected and the printing material l is bent, the bent inner surface 3' and the bent outer surface 3 are different. will have a good uniform pattern.

This printing material 1 is printed by the above-mentioned hydraulic transfer method.
As shown in FIG. 1C, a printed pattern 2, for example, a wood grain pattern, is transferred onto the outer surface of the rod, and then the rod is bent as shown in FIG. 1C in a bending process.

Therefore, since the printing pattern 2 on the outer peripheral surface of this printing material 1 is beautifully finished, if the portion on which the straight grain pattern 2' is printed is bent as the bent outer surface 3 as shown in FIGS. 3B and C, the bent inner surface 3' The printing also has a straight grain pattern 2', and a good appearance can be obtained.

In this way, since the transfer film 4 wraps the printing material 1 from the sides, the striped pattern of the transfer pattern 5 is transferred to the outer surface of the printing material 1 so as to extend along its long plane direction. Therefore, in this case, as shown in FIGS. 5B and 5C, the unsightly matte [ ] 2b is positioned on the bent inner surface 3', so that the beautiful straight-grained pattern 2' appears on the bent outer surface 3. The printed matter 1 is bent.

After the printing medium 1 is bent, the outside 06 is fixed to the printing medium 1 so that it cannot fall off due to the bending.
In order to improve the adhesion to the printing material 1, it is desirable that the outer cylinder 6 be made of a shrinkable material, such as a heat-expandable synthetic resin.

When the outer cylinder 6 is made of a heat-shrinkable material, after expanding the outer cylinder 6 and expanding its diameter, as shown in FIG. Then, by heating and softening the printing material 1 and bending it as shown in FIG. The tube 6 contracts and comes into close contact with the printing material 1.

Furthermore, if the outer cylinder 6 is made of a heat-shrinkable material, it should have a diameter slightly larger than the diameter of the printing material, and the printing material should be made of a heat-softening material as described above. If the printing material 1 is loosely fitted onto the printing material 1 and the printing material 1 is then heated to soften and bend it, the outer cylinder 6 will shrink due to this heating treatment and will come into close contact with the printing material 1.

Therefore, when a hollow pipe-shaped rod is used as the printing medium in this way, it is desirable that the opening, especially the lower opening, be covered by a lid, and the rod has a cut window. Sometimes it is desirable to mask this cut window from the inside beforehand.

In the above case, when a short rod is used as the printing substrate 1, the printing substrate 1 is usually completely immersed in the liquid, so concentrated printing points 2a are usually formed on the printing substrate 1.
