Claims (23)
- 1.けい光材料内にけい光を励起することができる、放射源からの励起放射によ り流体サンプルを分析する装置において、 前記励起放射および前記けい光を透過させる全内部反射性の細長い基体を備え、 該基体はボスと前記放射が導入される1端部を有する細長いファイバーとを有し 、前記ファイバーの前記1端部は前記ボスに固定結合され、前記ボスは、前記1 端部に導入された前記励起放射に対する最大立体受容角が全体的に前記ボスの透 過媒体内にあるように寸法が定められる分析装置。
- 2.前記ファイバーとボスとの接続部は前記放射の前記ファイバーに沿っての伝 搬に対して光学的不連続性は与えない請求項1記載の装置。
- 3.前記ボスは前記ファイバーの屈折率に整合された屈折率を有する請求項1記 載の装置。
- 4.前記ファイバーの少なくとも一部に前記けい光材料のコーティングを含む請 求項1記載の装置。
- 5.前記けい光材料は、前記励起放射により発生されたエバネッセント波により 励起されたとき前記けい光を発生するけい光識別体を含む抗体/抗原複合体の少 なくとも1部分を含む請求項4記載の装置。
- 6.中空状の細長いエンクロージャであって、前記ファイバーと該エンクロージ ャの間に空所を与えるように前記ファイバーの周りに配置されると共にそれから 隔置されたエンクロージャを含む請求項1記載の装置。
- 7.前記ファイバーは前記エンクロージャ内に同心状に配置される請求項6記載 の装置。
- 8.前記エンクロージャと前記ファイバーの間の空所は毛管現象を生ずる寸法で ある請求項6記載の装置。
- 9.前記細長いエンクロージャの1端部は前記ファイバーと前記ボスの接続部に 隣接する前記ボスに当接すると共に十分に封止される請求項6記載の装置。
- 10.当該装置の外部と、前記エンクロージャと前記ボスに隣接する前記ファイ バーの間の空所との間に延在する導管手段を備える請求項9記載の装置。
- 11.前記空所を通して前記サンプルを流す流体封止システムを与えるように前 記空所に接続されたポンプ手段を備える請求項1記載の装置。
- 12.前記ファイバーの他端部に係り、該他端部を通しての励起放射、けい光お よび迷光の伝搬をブロックする手段を備える請求項1記載の装置。
- 13.前記ブロックするための手段は前記ファイバーの屈折率にほぼ整合された 屈折率を有する放射吸収体を含む請求項12記載の装置。
- 14.前記ボスとファイバーの接続部と逆側の前記ボスの表面は、ほば平面をな すと共に前記ファイバーの伸長の軸線にほぼ垂直に配置される請求項1記載の装 置。
- 15.前記ボスとファイバーの接続部と逆の前記ボスの表面はレンズ表面をなす ように構成され、該レンズ表面の光軸は前記ファイバーめ伸長軸線にほば共線を なす請求項1記載の装置。
- 16.前記ファイバーの伸長軸線を横断する前記ボスの最小断面寸法は前記ファ イバーの最大断面径よりかなり大きくされる請求項1記載の装置。
- 17.前記ボスを固定位置に保持するシート手段と、前記励起放射の放射線と、 前記シート手段に向けて前記放射を収束する光学手段と、 前記励起放射に応答して前記ファイバーの端部から放射されたけい光放射を検出 する検出手段と、更に前記光源、光学手段および検出手段を前記シート手段に装 着して、前記ボスが前記シート手段に保持されるとき前記受容角内で前記ボスを 通して前記ファイバーの前記端部に前記励起放射を導入する手段とを備える請求 項1記載の装置。
- 18.前記光学手段に前記励起放射を入射させるように前記装着手段に結合され ると共に、前記けい光を前記検出手段に入射させるビームスプリット手段を備え る請求項17記載の装置。
- 19.前記ボスは前記ファイバーの長手軸線に対してほぼ垂直をなすと共に、前 記ファイバーと前記ボスの接続部に対し逆側の前記ボスの表面上に配置された平 面を含む請求項17記載の装置。
- 20.前記ボスと、ファイバーの接続部とは逆の前記ボスの表面はレンズ表面を 与えるように構成され、該レンズ表面の光軸は前記ファイバーの伸長軸線に対し ほぼ共線をなす請求項17記載の装置。
- 21.前記ボスは、該ボスが前記シート手段に確実かつ解放自在に保持可能なよ うに前記シート手段の形状にほぼ整合された断面形状を有する請求項17記載の 装置。
- 22.前記ボスは円形断面を有すると共にほぼ一様な直径を有する請求項17記 載の装置。
- 23.前記空所を通して前記サンプルを流すための流体封止システムを提供する ように前記空所に接続されたボンブ手段を備える請求項17記載の装置。
