In addition, fluorescent lamps, halogen lamps, xenon lamps, and the like are used as light sources for copying machines and the like. However, these have the following drawbacks.

This results in an increase in the size of the device.

3 is a rod-shaped lens. First, a plurality of light emitting diodes are arranged linearly on a printed circuit board 1 and bonded. After fixing the reflective frame 2, a rod-shaped lens 3 is fixed with transparent epoxy resin. By creating the light source as described above, it is possible to obtain a uniform band-shaped light illumination surface L having a certain width on the document surface P.

FIG. 2B is a sectional view taken along line B-B' in FIG. 1. The reflective frame 2 on the printed circuit board 1 has a concave shape, and when the light emitting diode 4 is placed in the center, the light beam of the light emitting diode is reflected by the reflective frame and efficiently directed forward. The light beam is narrowed down by the rod-shaped lens 3 and illuminates the document with a certain width. The rod-shaped lens 3 is made of resin 5 having almost the same refractive index as the lens.
It is fixed in place. Note that the transparent epoxy resin 5 molds the entire plurality of light emitting diodes 4 bonded onto the printed circuit board 1 to prevent deterioration of the light emitting diodes 4 due to moisture, dirt, and dust. Figure 3 shows the effect of using a rod-shaped lens. It is an explanatory diagram for explaining. Distance a from the light source to the lens surface
The focal length f 0 can be easily changed by keeping constant and changing the diameter D of the rod-shaped lens 3. This makes it possible to fix the distance f 1 from the lens surface to the irradiation surface and freely adjust the irradiation width T. Furthermore, by changing the distance f1 , the irradiation width T and the irradiation surface illuminance can be freely changed.

It is easy to change the irradiation length, it is easy to handle because it is integrated as a single linear light source, and there is no inconvenience such as the focus changing due to mechanical vibration after mounting. be.
