Abstract

PURPOSE: To use an inlet valve for controlling a system by repeating such serial processes that an unload valve closed and opened and the inlet valve is opened and closed when system pressure drops below a second pressure level lower than design pressure.
CONSTITUTION: In a controller 28, in the case where a compressor 2 is operated, an unload valve 24 is fully closed firstly, and an inlet valve 18 is fully opened. For maintaining delivery pressure at a constant design pressure level and at a gas flow rate between the design flow level and a minimum flow level, the inlet valve 18 is closed by a necessary amount, and the inlet valve 18 is maintained when it reaches the minimum flow. The unload valve 24 is opened by an amount for maintaining delivery pressure detected by a pressure meter 30 lower than a first pressure level higher than design pressure. When the unload valve 24 remains open beyond a position set point for longer than a first predetermined period of time, the unload valve 24 is fully opened, and the inlet valve 18 is fully closed. When system pressure detected by the pressure meter 32 drops below a second pressure level, the control steps discussed above are repeated.
