``Prior Art'' Various improvements have been made to automobile roof panels in the past, but in particular in roof panels with windows that can be opened and closed, the openings that make up the windows face upwards, making it difficult for the windows to open. Rainwater easily enters through the gaps, so careful consideration must be given to waterproofing.

For example, the roof panel of a high-roof type passenger car described in the specification and drawings of Japanese Patent Application No. 59-104083 has a structure as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4.

In other words, roof panel b of high roof wagon a
is provided with an opening c on the front left and right sides thereof, and the opening c can be opened and closed by a window member e attached to the side of the opening c via a hinge d so as to be openable and closable. Note that in this case, f is a ceiling window that can be fitted into the ceiling.

The window member e described above is made of glass, reinforced plastic, or a steel plate, for example, as shown in FIG. The edge g is slightly depressed toward the interior of the vehicle, and when the window member e is closed, the lower surface of the outer edge i of the window member e comes into contact with the sealing member h disposed on the upper surface of the edge g.
It is configured to prevent rainwater from entering the vehicle interior through the gap j between the window member e and the edge portion g.

In addition, since the edge part g is the outer frame part of the part punched out to form the opening c, it is very weak in strength, and cannot withstand the pressing force of the window member e as it is, so A reinforcing iron plate k is fixed by spot welding to prevent the window frame from deforming.

However, with the sealing action of only the sealing member h as described above, it is difficult to completely restrict the intrusion of rainwater, and especially in the flat part of the roof panel, the edge g of the opening c is located inside the vehicle interior. In a structure as shown in the fourth figure in which the window member e is sunken in the direction, the edge g and the seal member h, and further the outer edge i of the window member e.
The space l surrounded by the space L becomes a kind of puddle, and the water stagnant here seeps into the vehicle interior along the edge g, despite the presence of the seal member h.

Therefore, in the roof panel described in the specification and drawings of Japanese Patent Application No. 59-104083, a continuous protrusion m is formed over the entire circumference of the edge g, as shown in FIG. The protrusion m functions as a kind of dam, and rainwater that has entered through the seal member h is configured to collect at the root portion m' of the continuous protrusion m.

"Problems with the Prior Art" As mentioned above, in this prior art, although the continuous protrusion m succeeds in temporarily damming up rainwater that has penetrated past the sealing member, in reality, In this way, the root part of the continuous protrusion m
The rainwater accumulated in m' cannot easily flow out to the left and right of the car, especially on the flat part of roof panel b, so the water accumulated in this root part m' may be affected by vibrations of the car, etc. There is an inconvenience that the liquid overflows and invades the vehicle interior as shown by arrow n.

In addition, in the conventional example shown in Fig. 4, the reinforcing iron plate k is attached to the edge g by spot welding as described above, but the person operating the spot welding equipment does not attach the reinforcing steel plate k to the roof panel b during work. This is to operate the position of the spot welding electrode from the outside, and in particular, for the outside welding point p, the welding is performed while appropriately guessing the position of the end of the reinforcing iron plate k on the back side. This sometimes causes inconveniences such as spot welding at the wrong position, in which case the entire roof panel b may be defective.

``Structure of the invention'' In order to achieve the above object, the main means adopted by the invention is to spot reinforcing iron plates in the left and right direction of the vehicle body on the back side of the edge of the opening provided in a part of the roof panel. In an automobile roof panel having a window member fixed by welding to open and close the opening, a first continuous protrusion is formed around the entire edge of the opening, and a first continuous protrusion is formed on the outside of the first continuous protrusion. This is a point where a second continuous protrusion is formed along the welding point in the left-right direction of the vehicle body when the reinforcing steel plate is spot-welded to the back surface of the edge of the opening, and the second continuous protrusion is formed at the second continuous protrusion. As a result, the function of preventing rainwater from entering the vehicle interior is further enhanced, and spot welding is performed along these continuous protrusions to prevent welding errors from occurring.

``Example'' Next, an example embodying the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2 to provide an understanding of the present invention. Here, FIG. 1 is a perspective view showing the entire opening in a roof panel according to an embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 2 is a sectional view taken along the line A-A in FIG. 1.
Note that the same reference numerals are used to describe the same elements as those shown in FIGS. 3 and 4.

In this embodiment, the difference from the conventional roof panel shown in FIGS. 3 and 4 is that the welding points p are located on the outside of the continuous projection m with the opening c as the center, and are distributed in the left-right direction of the vehicle body. A continuous protrusion 1 is formed along this point. The continuous protrusion m
is the first continuous protrusion, whereas the continuous protrusion 1 corresponds to the second continuous protrusion.

From the standpoint of waterproofness, it is desirable to provide such a continuous protrusion 1 on the edge g of the opening c, particularly on the side facing in the left-right direction of the vehicle body, as shown in FIG. Furthermore, it is particularly convenient to provide such a continuous protrusion 1 on a flat portion of the roof panel, and even if it is provided on an inclined portion, it does not make much sense from the point of view of waterproofness.

When the continuous protrusion 1 as described above is provided, as shown in FIG. 2, rainwater seeping out from the pressing surface of the sealing member h and the end edge g first collects at the root portion 2 of the continuous protrusion 1. The amount of rainwater flowing into the root portion m' of the continuous protrusion m is extremely small. Since the continuous protrusion 1 as described above is mainly formed on the flat part of the roof panel b as described above, a certain amount of rainwater accumulates at the root part 2 of the continuous protrusion 1, and most of it is caused by vibrations of the vehicle body etc. As a result, it flows out in the left and right direction of the vehicle body along the continuous protrusion 1 as shown by the arrow 3, but due to sudden vibrations of the car, a part of it flows over the continuous protrusion 1 and flows in the direction of the continuous protrusion m, and flows to the root of the continuous protrusion m. It will temporarily accumulate in part m', but the amount is extremely small.

On the other hand, even if the roof panel is flat, at the edge g' (Fig. 1) along the longitudinal direction of the vehicle body,
Since acceleration due to the acceleration and deceleration of the car acts in the direction of the continuous protrusion m, the water that has accumulated in this part is quickly flowed forward or backward, and eventually rainwater is deposited on the edge part along the left and right direction of the car body. Therefore, the presence of continuous protrusions 1 as shown in FIG. 2 is very important.

In addition, when spot welding the reinforcing iron plate k to the lower surface of the edge g as described above, the continuous protrusion 1 is formed along the welding point p, so that the continuous protrusion 1 can be visually inspected. The position of the welding point p can be determined accurately, improving the efficiency of welding work and reducing welding errors.

``Effect of the invention'' As mentioned above, the invention has a reinforcing steel plate fixed in the left and right direction of the vehicle body by spot welding on the back side of the edge of the opening provided in a part of the roof panel.
In an automobile roof panel to which a window member for opening and closing the opening is attached, a first continuous protrusion is formed around the entire edge of the opening, and a first continuous protrusion is formed on the outside of the first continuous protrusion in the left-right direction of the vehicle body. The structure of the automobile roof panel is characterized in that a second continuous protrusion is formed along the welding point when the reinforcing steel plate is spot-welded to the back surface of the edge of the opening. The double weir consisting of the second continuous protrusion can reliably prevent rainwater from entering the vehicle interior, and the accurate welding position can be visually confirmed along the second continuous protrusion. is possible,
Work efficiency during spot welding of reinforcing steel plates,
and accuracy is dramatically improved.
