[Detailed description of the invention] (Field of industrial application) The present invention has high strength, a highly cosmetic surface, weather resistance and abrasion resistance, and also has a large amount of water absorption, making it easy to operate such as draining. This invention relates to a new water-absorbent sheet with a large water-retaining capacity that does not easily release water even when exposed to water.

(Prior art and problems to be solved) Water-absorbing sheets made of synthetic resin sponges have been used in many fields including sheets for patients, cosmetic products, cleaning products, and hydroponic culture media, but they are still used. I can't find anything that satisfactorily meets that demand. For example, water-absorbent sheets made of polyvinyl alcohol sponge are widely used as cleaning sheets, but when the water content evaporates, they lose their elasticity or flexibility and become hard, so they must be kept moist at all times. All water-absorbent sheets made of synthetic resin sponge imparted with hydrophilic properties have a small amount of water absorption; for example, even a relatively large water-absorbent sheet made of hydrophilic polyurethane sponge has a water content of approximately 0.2 g/dryc.c. In addition, these water-absorbing sheets easily release water by simply shaking the water-containing sheet several times by hand, and their water-retaining capacity is extremely small. However, in the water drainage test of the present invention (the test method will be described later), it only showed about 70% residual moisture, and these properties naturally limited its field of use.

The present inventor improved these shortcomings and discovered a water-absorbent sheet with a high water content and high water retention capacity.
I filed an application earlier (see Utility Application No. 132677, 1983).
However, since the surface of this sheet is made of polyurethane sponge, it lacks weather resistance and abrasion resistance, and its appearance is not necessarily desirable. Therefore, the present inventor conducted various studies to improve this water-absorbing sheet, and as a result, he completed the present invention. The purpose of the present invention is to have high strength, a highly cosmetic surface, and a weather-resistant and abrasion-resistant sheet. To provide a new water-absorbing sheet having a high water-retaining capacity, which has a high water-absorbing capacity, and does not easily release water even by operations such as draining.

(Means for solving the problem) In other words, the present invention has an apparent specific gravity of 0.08 to 0.3 g/
cc, consisting of a sheet layer laminated on one or both sides of a hydrophilic polyurethane sponge with a water content of approximately 0.5 to 3.0 g/dryc.c. and a water retention capacity of 80% or more of residual moisture in a drainage test. For water-absorbent sheets, the water content in this invention is defined as the water content (g/dryc.c.) after immersing a sample sheet at room temperature for 10 minutes or more, wiping off free water adhering to its surface, and calculating the water content (g/dryc.c.). This is the value divided by the volume of the sample sheet when dry. Also, the draining test involves placing the sample sheet in a plastic colander with a diameter of 25 cm and a depth of about 3 cm, stopping at a height of about 70 cm, and repeating this operation 115 times. This is the measured value of residual moisture after repeating.

The sheets used for lamination in the water-absorbing sheet of the present invention include non-woven fabric, cloth, fiber cloth, paper, plastic film, metal sheets, and porous sheets such as rubber sponge, soft sponge, and hard sponge. Alternatively, a laminate sheet formed by appropriately combining these sheets may be used. The hydrophilic polyurethane sponge layer is made by adding a foaming agent to a reaction component consisting of a normal polyisocyanate and a polyol to cause a foaming reaction, and has the above-mentioned characteristics, and there is no means for imparting such characteristics. For example, it can be obtained by heat compression treatment of a hydrophilic polyurethane sponge.

An example of the method for producing the hydrophilic polyurethane sponge layer of a water absorbent sheet according to the present invention is to use long chain polyethylene glycol with a molecular weight of about 2000 to 3000 as a polyol component and long chain polypropylene glycol with a molecular weight of about 2000 to 3000 as an isocyanate component. A hydrophilic polyurethane foam was produced by using tolylene diisocyanate as a polyol component, mixing a metal salt catalyst and a silicone foaming agent in the polyol component, and using water as a foaming agent to react in a conventional manner. .

This hydrophilic polyurethane sponge is heated to 200 ml on a hot plate.
The volume was reduced to about 1/5 by hot pressing at ~240°C. The bulk specific gravity (apparent specific gravity) of the obtained foam was 5 times as high as 0.15 g/cc, and the water content was more than 10 times as high as 1.7 g/dryc.c. Therefore, as a method for producing the laminated water absorbent sheet of the present invention, it goes without saying that the sheets laminated to the hydrophilic polyurethane sponge having the above characteristics may be bonded with an adhesive or thermocompression bonded. It can also be obtained by integrally molding a hydrophilic polyurethane sponge and a laminated sheet using a press or the like.

The water absorbent sheet according to the present invention has a sheet layer laminated on one or both sides of the hydrophilic polyurethane sponge layer, so the surface is smooth and cosmetic, and the surface has an uneven pattern or pattern. It may have a pattern layer such as the following, and the cosmetic effect is further enhanced by having such a pattern layer. Such a pattern layer is formed by laminating a patterned sheet onto a hydrophilic polyurethane sponge, or by applying a pattern at the same time or after lamination. A sheet having an uneven pattern is laminated on a hydrophilic polyurethane sponge having the above-mentioned characteristics, or embossing is performed after lamination, or the hydrophilic polyurethane sponge and the sheet are thermocompressed using a roll or plate having an uneven pattern. can be easily obtained by

(Effects) As mentioned above, the water absorbent sheet according to the present invention has an apparent specific gravity of 0.08 to 0.3 g/cc and a water content of approximately 0.5 to 0.5 g/cc.
3.0g/dryc.c. and has a hydrophilic polyurethane sponge layer with a water retention capacity of 80% or more of residual moisture in a drainage test, and a sheet is laminated on one or both sides of the sponge layer. ,
The sponge layer itself has a higher apparent specific gravity than conventional sponge sheets, and has a higher water content, so it is easier to handle, and since it has a surface layer, it has cosmetic properties, weather resistance, and abrasion resistance. Depending on the type of laminated sheets and the pattern on their surface, they can be used in a wider variety of fields than conventional water absorbent sheets.
