Previously, the present inventor provided opposing electrodes on both sides of a printed paper via a photosensitive film, and applied a unipolar impact voltage or electrostatic voltage between the opposing electrodes.
An attempt was made to transfer the print on the paper to a film by causing corona discharge in the air within the paper, but it was not possible to obtain uniform and repeated corona discharge within the paper surface, and such a device did not require exposure means or charging means. (Japanese Journal of Applied
(See Physics Vol. 18, No. 6, pp. 1165-1169). When an alternating current voltage was applied between the opposing electrodes, a uniform and good corona discharge could be generated within the surface of the paper, and the present invention was completed.

FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram of an example of the apparatus of the present invention. In the figure, 1 is a porous sheet-like layered material such as paper containing a large amount of gas such as air. This layer may be an insulating, porous object containing a large amount of gas, and is not limited to paper. 2 and 3 are electrode plates having insulating layers 2a and 3a on their surfaces, respectively.
In addition, using a bare electrode plate without an insulator layer,
Separate insulating sheets may be stacked on the electrode plate, and the sheet-like layered body 1 may be sandwiched between the insulating sheets. The opposing electrodes 2 and 3 are connected via an AC power source 4, and when an AC voltage is applied from the power source 4,
An alternating current voltage is indirectly applied to the sheet-like layered body through the insulator, causing corona discharge in the gas in the sheet-like layered body. At this time, various ions and electrons are generated depending on the type of gas, and in the case of air, ozone and nitrogen oxides can be generated. Light is also generated along with these chemical changes. Therefore, it can be used for purposes such as illumination, charging, etc. for image exposure for copying.

As the insulating sheet or insulating layer 2a, 3a, for example, a polyester sheet, vinyl chloride sheet or other highly insulating sheet is used. Incidentally, even if one of the insulators 2a and 3a is omitted, there is no problem for the purpose of generating corona discharge.

Another configuration may be one in which one electrode is in the form of a roll and the other electrode is in the form of a plate. in this case,
The insulating sheet or insulating layer is provided on the electrode surface or on the sheet-like layer. Even in these cases, corona discharge and accompanying light emission can be generated in the sheet-like layered body even without one of 2a and 3a.

Alternatively, as shown in FIG. 3, a coaxial cylindrical structure may be used. In this case, the insulating layer 7 on the outer surface of the inner electrode 7
It is preferable to use a material having a higher insulation end force than the insulating layer 6a on the inner surface of the outer electrode 6.

Example In the apparatus shown in FIG. 1, plain paper with a thickness of 0.1 to 0.5 mm was used as the paper 1, polyester film with a thickness of 0.1 mm was used as the insulating layers 2a and 3a, and copper plates were used as the electrode plates 2 and 3. , 200~1KHz, 1KV~ between electrode plates 2 and 3 with electrode plate 3 grounded
An alternating current voltage of 6KV was applied. Corona discharge is 200Hz
It was confirmed from changes in the current supplied between the electrodes that this phenomenon began to occur at an applied voltage of about 2 KV and became stronger as the voltage was increased. Corona discharge became less likely to occur at applied voltages below 2KV. As the frequency was increased, the occurrence of corona discharge became stronger and the current supplied between the electrodes also increased. The size of the electrode plate is 30cm x
At 20 cm, when the applied voltage was 1 KHz and 5 KV, the current was about 150 mA, corona discharge occurred in all the air areas present in the layer of plain paper 1, and luminescence was observed. At this time, the voltage application time was set to 1 second or less because if the voltage was continued to be applied for a long time, heat would be generated and the polyester sheets 2a, 3a would be destroyed.

When a voltage was applied between the electrodes 2 and 3 by removing one of the polyester sheets 2a and 3a between the electrodes 2 and 3 and the paper 1 and bringing one side of the paper 1 into direct contact with the electrode surface, the polyester sheet 2
A stronger corona discharge occurred than when both a and 3a were used.

Furthermore, when the electrode structure was made into a roll as shown in FIG. 2, the current flowing between the electrodes was reduced. That is, when the applied voltage was 1 KHz and 5 KV, the current value was several mA or less, and a corona discharge similar to that in the case of the plate-shaped electrodes was generated in the paper layer between the rolled electrodes.
