The optical fiber 13 is fixed in the holding member 15, and the glass plate 1
The structure was such that the holding member 15 was hermetically fixed to the package 14 via the holder 6.

かある。The conventional optical module described above has a structure in which the optical fiber is fixed to the package, and the coupling lens and optical semiconductor element arranged on the same optical axis as the optical fiber are also fixed to the bottom of the package. As a result, the optical module package may be deformed due to changes in the temperature of the environment in which the optical module is used or external forces transmitted from the panel on which the optical module is installed, causing the positional relationship between the optical fiber and the coupling lens on the same axis to shift, causing the optical axis to shift. The disadvantage is that deviations tend to occur.

A second optical fiber is provided at the rear end of the first optical fiber and one at the tip of the second optical fiber fixed to the outer surface of the package. The third coupling lens is arranged on the same optical axis, a glass plate is arranged between them, and the glass plate is hermetically fixed to the flat package.

Absorption occurs between the tip and rear end of the first optical fiber, does not affect the positional relationship between the tip of the first optical fiber, the first coupling lens, and the optical semiconductor element, and does not cause optical axis deviation. This is effective. Furthermore, the glass plate has the effect of maintaining airtightness.
