Abstract

PURPOSE:To uniformly apply a coated film on a rugged surface by painting the rugged patterns on the decorative surface of a base material to be painted by applying pressing force thereto by means of a roll coater having a coating roller at least the surface of which maintains elasticity. CONSTITUTION:The decorative surface of the base material A constitutes the rugged surface 1 having the rugged patterns. The coating roller 2 is formed by sticking sponge, etc., to the surface of, for example, a metallic roller to have resilience, elasticity and paint holding power and executes painting by transferring the paint C held therein onto the base material A while revolving. The coating roller 2 revolves nearly in synchronization with the transfer speed of the base material A and comes into contact with the base material A so as to press the same. The painting is executed in follow up to the rugged surface 1 via the plastic deformation and restoration by the resilience and elasticity of the coating roller 2 and the pressure between the coating roller 2 and the base material A and, therefore, the coated film is formed over the entire surface of the rugged surface 1 without the film cutting of the paint C.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION [Field of Industrial Application] The present invention relates to a method for coating the decorative surface of a base material made of a metal material, ceramic material, etc. using a roll coater. More specifically, the present invention relates to a coating method that can uniformly apply a paint to the uneven pattern by using a roll coater made of an elastic material to coat an uneven surface having an uneven pattern on the decorative surface of a base material.

However, with these methods, it was not possible to obtain a sufficient three-dimensional effect. In other words, adding an uneven pattern is to add a three-dimensional effect by creating a height difference on the surface, but there is a limit to the height difference of the uneven pattern depending on the physical properties of the material. However, simply increasing the height difference has the disadvantage that dirt and dirt tend to adhere to the surface. Furthermore, painted metal plates are sometimes embossed to create an uneven pattern, but fluororesin paints in particular have poor workability and the uneven process can cause cracks in the paint film, making them difficult to weather. This had the disadvantage of being inferior in strength, durability, and corrosion resistance.

Furthermore, when painting an uneven surface using a flow coater, film breakage occurs on the sides of the uneven surface. On the other hand, painting and printing merely change the color of the base material, and cannot completely eliminate the smoothness of the base material, which is insufficient to promote a three-dimensional effect.

In order to eliminate such drawbacks, the present invention uses a material with an uneven pattern on its decorative surface as a base material, and coats this uneven surface by applying pressure with a roll coater having a coating roller with at least an elastic surface. By doing so,
We propose a coating method that can uniformly apply a coating film to an uneven surface by using the elastic deformation and restoring force of the coating roller and changing it according to the uneven pattern.

Further, the coating roller 2 rotates substantially in synchronization with the transport speed of the base material A, and contacts the base material A so as to press it. That is, coating roller 2
As shown in Figure 1, the coating is applied by following the uneven surface 1 through elastic deformation and restoration due to the flexibility and elasticity of the coating roller 2 and the pressure between the coating roller 2 and the base material A. It is. To explain further, in order to apply the paint C to the entire surface of the uneven surface 1 without breaking the film, the following steps are required: ■ The shape of the convex portions 1a and the concave portions 1b of the uneven surface 1 of the base material A (pattern of the uneven surface 1), ■ As shown in Fig. 2, the height h of the uneven surface 1,
The material (hardness) of the coating roller 2, ■ The pressing force of the coating roller 2 on the base material A, ■ The material and viscosity of the paint A, ■ The rotation speed of the base material A and the coating roller 2, so these are selected. The coating is then applied under optimal conditions.

Here, the operation of the coating method according to the present invention will be briefly explained. First, the base material A is a 0.35 mm thick color steel plate with a stucco-like uneven pattern formed using an embossing roll, and the height h is 0.8 m + n. The coating roller 2 of the roll coater B is as follows. A metal roll with flexible foam formed on the outer peripheral surface, a metal roll as the feed roller 3, and a fluororesin paint as the paint C with a viscosity of #4 Ford Cup/115±2 at 20°C.
Use the one set to 0. Therefore, the rotational speed of the base material A and the coating roller 2 was set to 30 m/min, and the first
As shown in the figure, the base material A is sandwiched between the coating roller 2 and the backup roller 4, and the soft foam of the coating roller 2 is approximately 2 times the height h of the uneven surface 1 with respect to the outer diameter of the base material A. times to 5 times (1.6 nun ~
4. The paint C is applied to the base material A by bringing it into contact with the base material A in a compressed state. Further, the paint C is constantly supplied by the paint supply machine D in an amount equal to the amount of paint C to be applied to the base material A. The paint C on the uneven surface 1 formed in this manner had no film breakage at all, and the paint film was also completely formed on the side IC between the convex and concave portions 1a and 1b.

What has been described above is only one example of the coating method according to the present invention, and in the subsequent process, transparent clear, colored clear, etc. are sprayed,
It is also possible to apply with a curtain coater or the like, or to wipe off the paint C on the convex portions la.

As described above, according to the coating method of the present invention, (1) a coating film can be formed on a substrate having an uneven surface without film breakage; ■Since the paint is applied to a base material with an uneven pattern, there is no cracking of the paint film due to embossing, etc. ■Since the entire surface of a base material with cracks in the paint film due to embossing processing etc. can be completely covered with paint, it can be made to have excellent weather resistance and corrosion resistance. It has the following characteristics and effects.
