Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the sensitivity of signal detection to a signal having a long pulse width in an object pulse width range by providing plural signal detection circuits that are different in video band width and an OR circuit which synthesizes the outputs of plural signal detection circuits to output the result. CONSTITUTION:A signal detection circuit 101 out of plural signal detection circuits 101 and 102 that are different in video band width sets a wide video band width in accordance with the band of a minimum pulse width signal as the object, and the signal detection circuit 102 sets a narrow video band width in accordance with the band of a maximum pulse width signal as the object. An OR circuit 103 synthesizes the outputs of signal detection circuits 101 and 102 to output the result. Thus, the sensitivity to the signal having a long pulse width in the object pulse width range is improved when the pulse signal having a pulse width in a wide range is detected as the object.

Conventionally, this type of signal detection circuit includes a video amplifier circuit 201 . It consisted of a reference voltage circuit 202 and a voltage comparison circuit 203. It is necessary to set it according to the bandwidth of the minimum pulse width signal, which is the widest among the video bandwidths of this circuit.

The conventional signal detection circuit described above sets its video bandwidth to match the bandwidth of the target minimum pulse width signal, so the video bandwidth is wide and the noise level is high. The disadvantage of this method is that the sensitivity of signal detection is low for wide signals.

101 and 102 are signal detection circuits with different bandwidths, and the signal detection circuit 101 can set a wide video bandwidth in accordance with the band of the target minimum pulse width signal. The signal detection circuit 102 has a video bandwidth set narrowly in accordance with the band of the target longest pulse width signal. 10B is an OR circuit which combines the outputs of signal detection circuits 01 and 102 and outputs the result.

Although the signal detection circuit 101 has a high circuit noise level, it is suitable for detecting minimum pulse width signals. The noise level is expressed as N = k T B v N p, where k is Boltzmann's constant, 1' is the absolute temperature, and NF
is the noise figure of the circuit. Therefore, the signal detection circuit 101
Since the video bandwidth Bv is large, N is large, but it becomes easier to detect the minimum pulse width signal.

On the other hand, since the signal detection port 102 narrows Bv, N becomes smaller accordingly, and long pulse width signals can be detected with high sensitivity. Composite output.
