Claims

A cylinder block having a block refrigerant jacket surrounding a cylinder bore into which the piston is fitted, and a cylinder having a head refrigerant jacket formed surrounding a combustion chamber formed above the piston and communicating with the block refrigerant jacket. In the engine block of the engine to which the head is connected, the cylinder block has outer walls extending along the axial direction of the crankshaft at spaced apart positions on both outer sides of the cylinder barrel portion having the refrigerant jacket for the block. The cylinder head is provided with a jacket side wall forming a refrigerant jacket for the head on the inner side of at least one of the two head outer walls, which substantially corresponds to the outer walls of the two blocks, and the outer wall of the cylinder block and the cylinder barrel.
