In a spinning machine, etc., when a part of the sliver is wrapped around the draft roller, or when the sliver approaches its end, the sliver may gradually become thinner, and the yarn produced from this sliver will gradually become thinner. It will eventually break. Since such a phenomenon occurs relatively infrequently, conventional yarn winding machines are not equipped with a device to deal with this phenomenon, and the operator handles it manually.

If the yarn spun by the spinning device and wound around the package is thinner than a predetermined thickness, yarn breakage will occur. In such cases, conventionally the operator would unwind and remove the thin part of the yarn wound on the package cage, that is, the defective yarn, from the package cage, but if the operator removes the defective yarn by visual inspection, Since it is impossible to accurately detect whether or not the yarn is defective, the defective yarn may remain wound up in the package.

A plurality of winding units are arranged in a row on the machine base, and the package cage is rotatably supported by a support member such as a cradle arm, and a plurality of winding units are installed in a row on the machine base to wind yarn supplied from a yarn supply source such as a spinning unit onto the package cage. , the yarn splicing carriage is provided with a supply yarn side yarn end suction arm that sucks the yarn end on the yarn supply side and a package yarn end suction arm that suctions the yarn end on the package side, each of which is swingably provided. In the yarn winding machine installed along the winding unit so that it can move freely, the suction arm absorbs the cut end of the yarn wound into the package cage for yarn splicing, and the yarn is rewinded from the package cage while pulling up the yarn. In addition, a sensor is installed at any position on the yarn splicing cart that can detect the thickness of the yarn to detect defective yarn that is less than the set thickness. If the machine is equipped with a thread cutting mechanism such as a cutter near this sensor, the defective thread is cut, the package thread end suction arm is swung again, and the thread is rewound from the package cage. If it is a defective yarn, the above operation is repeated to remove the defective yarn wound around the package.

When a yarn breakage occurs in one of multiple winding units, the yarn splicing cart moves to the position of the winding unit, and the yarn supply side suction arm and the package yarn end suction arm each swing. Then, each thread end is suctioned and both arms return to their original positions. Therefore, a sensor detects the thickness of the yarn unwound from the package by the package yarn end suction arm, and if the thickness of the yarn is within the set value, the knotter splices the yarn as in the conventional device. Let's do it. If the thread thickness is thinner than the set value, the sensor detects this and issues a signal to stop splicing using the knotter, and also notifies the operator by emitting light or cutting the defective thread. Then, an operation command is issued to repeat the rewinding of the yarn in the package by the suction arm, thereby removing the defective yarn from the package and preventing the defective yarn from remaining in the package.

A yarn winding device 4 is constructed by having a plurality of winding units 1 arranged in parallel in the length direction of a machine stand 2, and a yarn splicing carriage 3 that travels along with the winding unit 1 provided on the machine stand 2. The winding unit 1 consists of a cradle arm 5, a package 6 rotatably supported by the arm 5, and a friction roller 7 that abuts the package 6 and applies rotational force to the package. Thread 8 forming
The yarn is supplied from a yarn supply source such as a spinning unit 9 provided above the machine 2 and an automatic winder (not shown), and this yarn is supplied via a roller 10, a yarn storage device 11, and a slab catch 12. The structures of the winding unit 1, the spinning unit 9, and the yarn supply path are also the same as those of the conventional apparatus.

The yarn splicing cart 3 has a spinning side yarn end suction arm 13 that sucks the yarn end on the spinning unit 9 side, and a package yarn end suction arm 14 that suctions the yarn end on the package 6 side, which can swing freely. There is no difference from the conventional yarn splicing cart in that the yarn splicing cart is pivoted on the yarn splicing cart and is provided with a knotter 15 for splicing the yarn guided by both arms 13 and 14. The package yarn end suction arm 14 of the yarn splicing cart 3 swings for splicing, is pulled up by the arm 14, and is set at a position where the thickness of the yarn unwound from the package cage 6 can be detected. Sansa 16 that emits a signal when the yarn is defective and thinner than the specified thickness.
A signal from this sensor 16 causes the spinning unit 9 to stop, and the sensor 1
A cutter 17 for cutting defective yarn is provided near the sensor 16 as a mechanism that responds to the signal No. 6.
Although not shown as an embodiment, a notification device such as a lamp or a buzzer may be provided instead of this cutter, or this notification device may be provided together with the cutter.

Under normal conditions, the yarn 8 spun by the spinning unit 9 is passed through the rollers 10 and the spinning shaft 1.
2 and then wound into a package cage 6. FIG. 1 shows this normal state. When the spun yarn becomes thin, such as when the sliver approaches its end, yarn breakage occurs. When this thread breakage occurs, a series of thread splicing functions are activated as in the conventional device, and the package 6 is separated from the friction roller 7.
The package thread end suction arm 14 swings toward the package 6, and the mouse 18 of the arm 14 swings.
suctions the end of the thread wound around the package 6, and in this state the package thread end suction arm 14 returns to its original position. On the other hand, the spinning side yarn end suction arm 13 also swings, sucks the yarn on the spinning unit side, and returns to its original position. FIG. 2 shows this state. Now, in this state, the sensor 16 detects the thickness of the thread 8a on the package cage 6 side,
If this thickness is the set value, the thread 8a and the thread 8b on the spinning unit 9 side are spliced with the knotter 15, and the thread 8 is wound into the package 6 again as before. On the other hand, the sensor 16
When it is detected that the yarn is thin in thickness, so-called defective yarn, the spinning unit 9 is stopped and at the same time the cutter 17 is
A signal is issued to cut the thread 8a with the cutter 17,
The packaged yarn end suction arm 14 is swung again, the yarn end of the packaged cage 6 is sucked and returned to the state shown in FIG.
The thickness of thread a is detected, the above action is repeated until the thickness of thread 8a reaches the set value, and package 6
Completely unwind the defective yarn wound on the machine and discard the defective yarn.

The device of this invention uses a sensor to detect the thickness of the thread unwound from the package cage when a thread breakage occurs, and can mechanically check for defective threads whose thickness is thinner than the set value. This completely solves the problem of splicing the yarn while it is wound.
