Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a yarn for artificial grassland having excellent abrasion resistance and free from problem of fibrillation after the application by extruding polymer pellets in the form of a band having a specific width, drawing under a specific condition and twisting the drawn bands with each other. CONSTITUTION: A pelletized polymer (preferably block copolymer of polypropylene) is extruded in the form of a film and slit to bands of 1.5-4 mm wide or directly extruded in the form of a band of 1.5-4 mm wide. The band is drawn at a draw ratio of 1:(2-3) to form a drawn band having a width of 0.75-3 mm and a thickness corresponding to 50-80% of the thickness of the original band. Five to ten pieces of the drawn bands are twisted together to form the objective yarn. The yarn is preferably coated with a friction coefficient decreasing substance such as a silicone derivative.

The article "Continuous Yarns of Staple Fibers and Fiberized Polypropylene Films" by Dr. Zhi Shua on page g-843 describes extruding polypropylene granules into a film and stretching the film at a stretching ratio of l:6 to L:12, especially 1: 10
It is described that a fiberized yarn is produced by stretching the film, cutting the stretched film into bands, and converting the cut bands into fibers. It is also possible to cut the film into bands before stretching and then stretch the bands. It has also been stated that such fibers, in addition to their general use in fabrics, carpets and backings, can be used for "artificial turf".

Manufactured by extrusion into 0 μm films. This film is cut into bands about 30 mm wide, and the bands are stretched to a film about 15101% wide and about 50 μm thick at a stretch ratio of I:4 or higher. To twist these bands, the bands are scored to create a net-like structure, a structure that facilitates twisting.

The present inventor conducted thorough research to improve artificial grassland, and conducted experiments aimed at improving wear resistance. These experiments revealed that at relatively high draw ratios, the strength of the fibers was increased, but the abrasion resistance was improved by lowering the draw ratio.

The method for producing yarn for artificial grass according to the present invention is a method for producing yarn by extruding polymer granules into bands or films, cutting the film into bands, and stretching the bands, comprising: A band with a width of 1.5 to 4 cm is stretched at a stretching ratio of i:2 to
Stretching at a ratio of 1:3 into a band with a width of 0.75 to 3 mm and a thickness of 50 to 80% of the thickness of the extruded band, and then twisting 5 to 10 sheets of the stretched band to form a thread. It is characterized by:

More preferably, the yarn is coated with a coefficient of friction reducing material such as a silicone derivative. In the method of the present invention, the cutting of the film into bands and the stretching can be reversed, and the band can be stretched in the same way as the film is stretched. The yarn material used in the artificial grassland is manufactured by the method described above.

Effects of the invention As a result of the experiments conducted, the artificial grassland made with the tufted yarn according to the invention is less prone to post-fibrillation, and wheel experiments give clearly improved results by visual inspection. This has been proven. The results of the taper test are shown in the table below, which shows that yarn loss ranges from 70% in artificial grass using the grass yarn disclosed in European Patent No. 0.283,588 to It is clear that the reduction was significantly reduced to 20% of that in the case of artificial grassland manufactured by.

(Left below) ”...Instead of producing a film that is cut into bands 2-3 mm wide with 4 cuts per 10 cm width, it is also possible to produce bands of a specified width directly from the spinneret. In this case, the molten metal is drawn out of a spinneret whose dimensions are such that the desired bands are obtained directly after extrusion cooling. This is contrary to the expectations expressed in the W. A. Badrian article cited above. Yes, because the present invention now produces thicker fibers than those targeted in the above article.
