Since the materials of both manuscripts and ancient documents are generally fragile, reinforcing measures or lining are used to preserve them. Furthermore, when making frames and hanging scrolls, it is necessary to back and reinforce the main work, that is, the main paper. In the production of hanging scrolls, it is common to line the top, bottom, top and bottom, one character, pillars, etc. of paper and split fabric in the same way. Conventionally, two methods are known for this backing: a stationary method and a moving method.

The fixing method is to place the work, i.e. the main paper, face down on a glue board, brush it gently with a water brush or spray water with a sprayer to moisten it, and then use a brush over it to prevent wrinkles from forming on the board. Stick it on. Next, the backing paper is placed on top of the main paper with its surface facing down, and one end of it is fixed with glue on a glue board. The other un-glued end of the backing paper is then turned over and spread to the opposite side of the main paper, and glue is applied to the spread surface. At this time, stroke thoroughly with a brush to avoid uneven glue. In this way, the backing paper stuck to the surface of the board is pulled up and gently turned over, and as it is placed over the main paper again, it is fixed to the main paper with a caressing brush. Thereafter, the lined paper is lifted up using a round rod, left to dry in an appropriate place, preferably on a blanket, and then glued around the periphery to create a temporary tension, and left to stand for several days to complete the backing.

On the other hand, the transfer method is basically the same as the above-mentioned fixed method, but it is carried out without placing the backing paper on the glue board. For this purpose, the backing paper is glued in advance and this is placed on top of the main paper. It is applied to the skin and fixed with a brush. This moving method requires more advanced techniques than the fixed method, and is a method suitable for so-called professionals.

With any of the above conventional methods, it is very difficult to fix the backing paper onto the main paper, and the operation of applying glue to the backing paper is also difficult, so it is said that it usually takes 3 years for gluing and 10 years for backing. It requires a great deal of skill, and it is extremely difficult for ordinary amateurs other than specialists to perform this technique.

The inventor of the present invention has focused on the above-mentioned drawbacks of conventional lining methods, and has continued research to develop a lining method that anyone can easily use without requiring any skill. As a result, the inventor has developed a method that can achieve the desired purpose. They were successful and finally completed the present invention. That is, in the present invention, (a) the paper is placed face down on a glue plate, (b) it is moistened, (c) it is stretched and wrinkled, and (d) the surface is re-wetted with glue and glue is applied to the surface of the paper to make it slightly smaller than the dried paper. Moisten the back side of a large piece of backing paper, leave it for a while, and place it on top of the main paper with the coated side facing down (E). Stroke it with a brush from the center of the backing paper to the periphery (F). This process involves peeling off the backing paper and main paper from the glue plate, (g) soaking water around the glued surface of the backing paper and temporarily attaching it (h) leaving it to stand, and then peeling it off. This relates to a backing method characterized in that it is performed in order.

A major feature of the present invention is that the surface of the backing paper is coated with a conventional rewet glue and dried.
If the backing paper is coated with regular rewet glue, moisten the surface with it, place it on top of the moistened main paper before it dries, and brush it from the center to the periphery. good. The backing paper coated with this re-wet glue is moistened from the back side and then placed on top of the main paper, but at this time the surface to which the glue has been applied is still quite dry, and even when placed on top of the main paper, it will not adhere. There is no need for difficult handling as in the past. In other words, conventional glued backing paper adheres immediately when it comes into contact with the main paper, so it requires extremely skilled technique and is extremely difficult to adhere the backing paper to the main paper without wrinkles, but according to the present invention, Since the backing paper is still dry, it is extremely easy to operate and does not require any skill.

The backing paper itself used in the method of the present invention may be one that has been conventionally used, and the rewetting glue applied thereto may be a normal rewetting glue. Typical examples include aqueous solutions of polyvinyl alcohol and ethyl cellulose.
Furthermore, any of the glue plates, brushes, temporary pasting boards, etc. that have been used in the past can be used effectively.

On the other hand, separately prepare a piece of backing paper (36cm) larger than the main paper in advance.
x 27cm, thick re-wet glue (PVA aqueous solution) on Japanese paper)
Apply it evenly at 30 μm and let it dry. When backing this, moisten the back side with a water brush and then place the coated side down on top of the main paper. Then, gently stroke the backing paper with a brush from the center toward the periphery to bring the backing paper and the main paper into close contact with each other. Thereafter, the adhered main paper and backing paper were peeled off by hand from the glue board, water was applied around the glued surface of the backing paper, and the paper was temporarily pasted. After that, it was left to stand for 3 days and then peeled off to obtain the lined paper.
