この考案は自転車のギヤークランク軸のボール

従来の自転車のギヤークランク軸の軸受部は、
第1図に示すようにフレームのハンガー部のブラ
ケツト1に軸受外輪部材2,3、ベアリングボー
ル4、ギヤークランク軸(ハンガー軸又はハンガ
ー芯)5が組付けられたものからなつている。軸
受外輪部材2と3とは、組付けとその調整のため
に一方の部材2がフランジ部10を有し、他方の
部材3がフランジ部10に代るナツト11を螺合
されている点及び外周の雄ねじが左右で逆ねじで
ある点で相違はあるが、双方共にブラケツト1の
外側からねじ込まれるものであり、内周面にベア
リングボール4を案内する案内溝12を有してい
る点では同じである。その案内溝12に対向して
ギヤークランク軸5の外周に案内溝13が形成さ
れており、案内溝12と13との間にボール4が
保持されている。ギヤークランク軸5の図の右方
端部にはギヤー(スプロケツト)14とクランク
アーム(ペダル付アーム)が取付けられ、左方端
部にはクランクアームのみが取付けられるように
なつている。なお、図中15はフレーム下パイ
プ、16はチエンステーである。このような従来
のギヤークランク軸5の軸受部においては軸受部
に対するシールを施されていないため、泥や水が
入り込み易く、ボール4及び案内溝12,13が
摩滅し易い不都合があつた。これに対し、従来第
3図に示すように、ゴム製のシール材17を設け
る構造が提案された。しかし、その構造は同図に
見られるように外輪部材2aの外方端部内周面に
シール材保持溝18を設けたものであつたから、
溝18の必要な溝幅を確保するためには外輪部材
2aのブラケツト1外側端から突出する寸法elを
従来の自転車における寸法eよりも大きいものに
変更しなければならない問題があつて好ましくな
い。すなわち、寸法eが大きくなると、在来のギ
ヤークランク軸5を使用して、組付けたとき第1
図に示す組幅wが従来よりも広くなり、後部ギヤ
ーの組幅との関連でそのままではチエンライン1
