[Detailed description of the invention] (Field of industrial application) This invention is a method of converting barium sulfate solution (hereinafter simply referred to as barium), which is used as a contrast agent for X-ray diagnosis of gastrointestinal organs, etc., into substantially solid spherules. Regarding structure.

(Conventional technology) When performing X-ray diagnosis of the stomach, etc., about 1 scoop (250 ml) of a cloudy barium solution is poured on an empty stomach.
You need to drink more than one glass to get the barium to adhere to the lining of your stomach and other areas.

Moreover, many subjects, especially young children, have a strong aversion to cloudy colors that have almost no odor or taste and refuse them. Therefore, Barium is manufactured with scents and flavors to make it easier to drink, but it is difficult to shake off the instinctive discomfort caused by the unique smooth texture of Barium, and it has not been as effective as expected. The reality is that there is no such thing.

In view of the above-mentioned circumstances, the present invention was developed by camouflaging barium into particles with a smooth surface.
To provide a contrast agent for X-rays that can be easily taken by general subjects including infants without feeling uncomfortable.

The contrast agent of the present invention is made by simultaneously applying barium and capsule membrane stock solution from the inner and outer passages of a double-tube nozzle so as to obtain a double-structured droplet.
It is produced by dropping it into a crosslinking agent solution containing polyvalent metal ions. There are two methods for discharging from this double tube nozzle: a natural dripping method and a forced dripping method.

The stock solution for capsule membranes is one that forms an insoluble film through a crosslinking reaction with polyvalent metal ions, and the film must not be harmful to the body and easily dissolve in gastric juices. Suitable materials that meet this condition include, for example, vegetable mucilages (polysaccharide polymers) such as sodium alginate and pectin.

Appropriate amounts of ingredients such as spices, sweeteners, seasonings, and coloring agents may be mixed into the capsule membrane. When coloring the capsule membrane, colors that appeal to the sense of eating and drinking, such as pale orange, pale grape color, and pale cherry color, are considered suitable, depending on the person's preference.

The diameter of the capsule is not particularly limited as long as it can be swallowed by the subject, but the spherical diameter is preferably 4 to 7 mm, more preferably 2 to 15 mm, and is determined to be the optimum value depending on whether the capsule is for adults or children.

The capsule membrane dissolves when it reaches the stomach, so it is better to make the capsule membrane as thin as possible unless it is easily destroyed on the way to the stomach.

(Effect) The contrast agent of the present invention has a structure in which barium is wrapped in a spherical capsule membrane, so it can be swallowed without any resistance in the throat, and since the barium does not touch the tongue, it does not give a thick feeling. Therefore, even children can drink it without any discomfort.

Flavors and scents can be added to the capsule membrane to make it easier to drink; in this case, the effect is greater than adding flavors and scents to the barium itself. In addition, by applying a light color to the capsule membrane, the capsule membrane has a good appearance and a sense of familiarity to the examinee, thereby further increasing its usefulness as a contrast agent.

As shown in FIG. 1, barium 1 is formed into a sphere surrounded by a capsule membrane 2 made of calcium alginate. The contrast agent has an outer diameter D of 9 to 12 mm and an inner diameter d of 8 to 10 mm. Capsule membrane 2 is a pale yellow transparent body with appropriate sweetness and fragrance added.

Therefore, X-ray diagnosis of the stomach becomes possible by drinking the required amount of contrast medium with 60 to 100 c.c. of water (water containing a foaming agent may also be used). In this case, you may drink only the required amount of contrast medium.

In other words, when the contrast medium reaches the stomach, the outer capsule membrane 2 dissolves, and the core substance barium spreads within the stomach and adheres to the gastric mucosa.

First, the double tube nozzle 3 is one of those shown in Figures 3 to 5, and barium 1 is supplied from the inner passage 4, and yellow pigment, flavor, sweetener, and 1.8% sodium alginate are supplied from the outer passage 5. The capsule membrane stock solution sol 12 contained therein was poured into a 10% calcium chloride solution 6 so as to simultaneously obtain droplets with a double structure, and chemical gelation was carried out in that state. I took it out and washed it with water. As a result, a contrast agent with excellent strength, shape retention, eating and drinking sensation, appearance color, aroma, and sweetness was obtained.

(Effects of the invention) As mentioned above, the contrast agent of this invention has a spherical structure by oblating barium with a capsule membrane, so it can easily pass down the throat without giving a thick and uncomfortable feeling to the tongue. Even after drinking it, the mouth remains clean, and even infants who are sensitive to medicinal solutions can enjoy drinking it without getting nervous.
