Abstract

PURPOSE:To sell articles with stand-alone constitution by providing and connecting a storage means and a display means for article catalogs, an input means for order information, and a read means for credit cards to a communication sales center. CONSTITUTION:A CD-ROM reproducing device 1 displays the article catalogs continuously on a display 2. When a customer selects catalog inspection, a requested article catalog is displayed and when an article is selected, a CPU 7 stores and displays the number of the article. Then the customer inputs a sending address, which is stored by the CPU 7 to display the sending address data. After the completion of those procedures is confirmed, a credit card is expected to be inserted. When the card is inserted into a card reader 4, its ID data, etc., is read and saved in the CPU 7, and the final confirmation of the procedures and input information is performed. Then the CPU 7 sends the order information such as the article number and sending address data, and the card data to the communication sales center by a communication controller 5.

[Detailed Description of the Invention] [Field of Industrial Application] The present invention relates to a mail-order terminal device that operates unattended and handles mail-order sales of products. [Conventional technology 1] Traditionally, when selling products, products are displayed in a specific space, and store staff respond to customers' orders and hand over the products.
The most common format is to receive payment. In addition, in order to save space for displaying products, a so-called mail-order format has become popular, in which customers select products from a product catalog and the products are delivered to the purchaser's home at a later date. [Problem to be solved by the invention] However, in the above-mentioned general product sales format,
This method requires a space to display products, and store staff must be on standby at all times, resulting in poor efficiency.

In addition, although the mail order format saves space for displaying products, it still requires manpower to send product catalogs to customers and accept orders, and customers have to purchase products and pay separately. The drawback was that it was time-consuming. [Means for Solving the Problems] In order to solve the above-mentioned conventional problems, the mail order terminal device of the present invention includes a storage means for storing and reproducing product catalog information;
A display means for displaying the above product catalog information, an input means for inputting order information necessary for product purchase, a reading means for reading credit card information, and a transmission means for transmitting the above order information and card information to the mail order center. and a control means for controlling each of the above processes, a CD-ROM playback device as the storage means, a display as the display means, and a keyboard as the input means. Features: [Examples] Examples of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is a block diagram showing an embodiment of the mail order terminal device of the present invention. The mail order terminal device of this embodiment uses a CD-ROM playback device l as a display means for storing and displaying product catalog information.
and a display 2, a keyboard 3 as an input means for inputting order information for specifying the product and the destination of the product when purchasing a product, and a card reader 4 as a reading means for reading credit card information. and a communication controller 5 as a transmission means for transmitting order information, card information, etc. to the mail order center via a telephone line, a printer 6 as an output means, and each of the above-mentioned devices 1 to 6.
It has a CPU 7 as a control means for controlling. The CD-ROM installed in the CD-ROM playback device 1 records product catalog information.
By replacing M regularly, the product catalog can be updated. - The display 2 is a high-resolution color display, and displays the contents of the product catalog read out from the CD-ROM by the CD-ROM playback device 1. The keyboard 3 is used to input information regarding the product number shown in the product catalog and the destination of the product when purchasing a product. Furthermore, in addition to the keyboard 3, a facsimile 8 may be provided as an input means so that information such as the destination of the product can be sent in writing. The card reader 4 reads data such as ID recorded on the credit card and sends it to the CPU 7. The printer 6 prints out a confirmation message when the CPU 7 confirms that there is no error in the order information such as the product number. After the printer 6 outputs a confirmation message, the communication controller 5 transmits the order information input from the keyboard 3 or facsimile 8 and the credit card information read by the card reader 4 to the mail order center via the telephone line. The CPU 7 controls the processing by each of the above devices. Next, the operation of this embodiment will be explained according to the flowchart shown in FIG. In the initial state, the mail order terminal sequentially reads data from the CD-ROM using the CD-ROM playback device 111, and continuously displays a product catalog based on the data on the display 2 (step S1). This operation continues until there is input from the keyboard (step S2). By inputting from the keyboard, the customer can select three types of actions: address instruction, product selection, and catalog inspection. Here, we will explain the operation based on the general product purchasing procedure. When the customer selects catalog inspection (step 5), the requested product catalog is displayed through input (step S).
6), it enters a state of waiting for input (step S7). If there is no input until the input wait timer reaches timeout,
Mail order terminal 1 returns to its initial state. When the customer enters the input waiting state, the customer attempts to select a product (step 34). The CPU 7 stores the product number of the selected product (step S8). Then, the memorized product number is displayed on the display 2 (step 310). Furthermore, request confirmation whether the procedure has been completed (Step S11)
In this case, since the customer has not yet specified the destination, he/she will select "Show address" (step S3). The CPU 7, which selects the address instruction and inputs the destination address, stores the data (step 9). Then, the stored destination data is displayed on the dice brake 2 (step 510), and confirmation of the completion of the procedure is requested (step Sll). When the customer inputs the confirmation from the keyboard 3, the mail order terminal device accepts the credit card. Waiting for insertion (step 5)
12, 313), if no credit card is inserted until the input wait timer times out, the mail order terminal device returns to the initial state. When a customer inserts a credit card into the card reader 4,
The card reader 4 reads the ID data and saves it to the CPU 7 (step 514), and requests final confirmation of the procedure and input information (step 515). When the customer inputs the confirmation using the keyboard 3, a confirmation message is displayed. is displayed on the display 2 and printed out on the printer 6 (step 516). After this, the CPU 7 sends the order information such as the product number and destination data, and the credit card data to the communication controller 5.
to the mail order center (step S17),
After ejecting the credit card from the card reader 4 (step 318) and returning the credit card, the mail order terminal device returns to its initial state. [Effects of the Invention] As explained above, the mail order terminal device of the present invention includes a product catalog storage means, a product catalog display means, an order information input means, and a credit card card information reading means, and has a communication terminal. Since it is connected to a sales center, it is possible to sell products stand-alone. Therefore, if the mail order terminal device of the present invention is installed, it is possible to reduce the product display space and to save time and effort due to unmanned operation.
