Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 本発明は水平包装機械に関し、特にそのような包装機械
でパッケージを製造するために用いる熱可塑性フィルム
をヒートシールとして切断する装置に関する。
本発明の装置を用い得る包装機械は1987年12月1
5日付けでり[]−フォード等に発行された米国特許筒
4,712,357号に開示されている。この包装機械
は、長手方向にシールされた熱可塑性材料からなる進行
中のチューブ内に連続的に物品を送り込み、続いて物品
と物品の間でチューブを密封(シール)、切断して個々
の密封パッケージを得るようになっている。
本発明は物品を熱可塑性材料のチューブで包装するため
に用いる改良型の密封切断装置を提供づる。本装置は第
1回転軸線を中心にして回転し得るように取付けられ、
前記第1回転軸線から離隔した位置に滑らかにして弾力
的なアンビル面を具えたアンビル組立体を有する。加熱
ナイフと1対の中空のフィルムクランプを具えたフィル
ム切断組立体が、第1回転軸線に平行する第2回転軸線
を中心にして回転し得るように設けられる、フィルムク
ランプは第2回転軸線に平行するとともに第2回転軸線
からl1lIt隔して位置する。加熱ナイフがフィルム
クランプ間でフィルムクランプに平行して取付けられる
。フィルム切断組立体とアンビル組立体は各々の軸線を
中心にして同期して回転づるので、フィルムクランプと
加熱ノーイフがアンビル面に押圧され、もってアンビル
面上の熱可塑性材料をすべて密1・1シ切断する。
ばねがフィルムクランプを第2回転軸線から分離するよ
うに偏倚するので、フィルムクランプがアンビル面に圧
接して熱可塑性材料に接触した後にナイフが熱可塑性材
料に接触する。このようにすると熱可塑性材料を確実に
保持した状態でナイフが熱可塑性材料に密封、切断作用
を行うことができる。加熱されたナイフはフィルムクラ
ンプに対して放熱づ−るので、中空のフィルムクランプ
内に冷却液を循環させることによって、密封、切断操作
を熱可塑性フィルムで覆われた物品に密接した位置で行
う場合に、熱可塑性フィルムがフィルムクランプに溶着
しないようにされている。冷却されたフィルムクランプ
はフィルムが密封、切断された後にフィルムを冷却、固
化する作用をも行う。
上記の構造によればフィルムクランプを加熱ナイフに密
接させて装架できるので、熱可塑性材料を物品に密着さ
せたパッケージが得られる。従って熱可塑性材料の使用
iを少な(することができるとともに−層確実にシール
を施しくqる。フィルムクランプが冷いと加熱ナイフの
温度が高くなるので、密封、切断速度が向上する。
本発明の装置を使用し得る水平包装機械(10)を第1
図に示す。包装機械(10)は可動チェーン(11)を
有し、可動チェーンは1対の支持lN1(18a、 1
8b)に装架された1対のローラ(17a、 17b)
から繰り出される熱可塑性フィルム(16)で一連の物
品(12)を包装するために、複数個の物品を運搬する
。フィルム(16)は複数個のローラ(22)に巻き掛
けられて成形装置(23)に係合する。成形装置(23
)はシート状のフィルムをチューブで24)に成形して
物品を包装する。チューブ(24)とこれに内包された
物品は密封切断装置(28)に向けて前進し、密封切断
装置ではフィルム切断組立体(29)とアンビル組立体
(30)間を通過する。個々の物品(12)はフィルム
(16)内に密封されて密封切断装置(28)によって
隣接する物品と物品の間でフィルムが密封、切断され、
よって包装された個別の物品が得られる。包装備械(1
0)を操作する電子制御装置(図示せず)が制御主11
ビネツト(34)内に取付けられる。
アンビル組立体(30) (第2図乃至第6図)は第1
回転軸(35)を合み、第1回転軸は1対の端部プレー
ト(37)に装着された1対の軸受(36)に回転し得
るように取付けられる。アンビル(41)が複数本のボ
ルトによって回転軸(35)に固定される。アンビル(
41)はブロック(43)を有し、ブロック内には柔軟
なゴムパッド(48)と剛性のゴムパッド(49)(第
6図)が取付けられる。ガラスIINで補強されたテフ
ロン(商標名)のような低a!擦テープ(50)がゴム
パッド(49)を覆って、加熱された熱可塑性フィルム
がアンビル(41)の而(50a)上を容易に滑り扱け
るようにしている。
フィルム切断組立体(29) (第2図乃至第7図)は
端部プレート(31)に装着された1対の軸受(55)
に回転し樽るように取付けられた第2回転軸(54)を
含む。端部プレート(31)は複数本のボルト(60)
によって包装機械(10)の一部分(56)に連結され
ている。ボルト(60)は物品(12)の高さに対して
密封溶接装置(28)の位置を調節するために用いる。
複数本のボルト(62)によって第2回転軸(54)に
連結された取付はブロック(61a)  (第2図乃至
第5図)は複数個の回転ピン(66a、66b) 、及
び複数個の反作用ピン(67a、 67b)によって複
数個のフィルム保持アーム(63a、 63b)に回転
し得るように連結される(第2図乃至第7図)。各ピン
(66a、 66b)は回転し得るように取付はブロッ
ク(Gla)に取付けられていて、各ピン(67a、 
67b)は取付はブロック(61a)の溝(68)内で
滑動しくりるように取付けられている。第3図、第4図
に最も良く示されているように、取付はブロック(61
a)は1対の腔(72a72b)を有し、6腔は1対の
調節用のねじ(73,74)を有し、腔内にばばね(7
5)が配置されている。ばね(75)はねじ(73)と
反作用ピン(67b)の間に配置されて保持アーム(6
3b)をピン(66b)を中心にして反時計方向に偏倚
し、保持アーム(63a )をピン(66a)を中心に
して時計方向に偏倚する。調節用のねじ(74) (第
4図)がピン(67a、67b) (7)下降運動量を
制限して保持アーム(63a、 Ei3b)の位置を限
定する。
加熱密封棒(79) (第2図乃至第6図)が複数本の
ボルト(81)によって所熱スペーサ(80)に取付け
られていて、スペーサ(80)は複数本のボルト(82
)によって第2回転軸(54)に取付けられている。ヒ
ータ(86)と温度センサ(87) (第6図)が加熱
密封棒(19)の温度を制御する。1対の中空にして液
体で冷却されるフィルムクランプ(88a、 88b)
が加熱密封棒(79)の両側に配置されてフィルム保持
アーム(63a、 63b)に固定される(第2図乃至
第7図)。
冷却液は第2回転@(54)内の中空腔(99)を経て
フィルムクランプ(88a、88b)に供給される(第
2図乃至第7図)。1対のバイブ(93a、 93b)
と通路(94a、94b)が冷却液を中空の各フィルム
クランプ(88a、88b)に導く。冷却液はフィルム
クランプ(88a、 88b)から取付はブロック(6
3d)内の通路(図示せず)を経、更にチューブ(98
b)を通って第2回転軸(54)内の腔(99)から出
、冷却液を第2回転軸(54)から放熱器、その他の冷
却装置に搬送するバイブ(図示せず)に達する。液体は
こうして冷却されて再び腔(99)を経てフィルムクラ
ンプ(88a、88b) ニ循環さレル。
1対の歯車(100a、100b)  (第2図)が矢
印(101a、101b)  (第3図乃至第5図)で
示すように第1回転軸(35)と第2回転軸(54)を
相互に反対方向に回転する。第1回転@(35)と第2
回転154)が第5図に示ず位置に達すると、フィルム
クランプ(88a、 88b)がテープ(50)に圧接
すると同時に進行中のフィルムをテープ(50)とフィ
ルムクランプ(88a、 88b)の間で締め付ける。
第1回転’N1(35)と第2回転軸(54)が回転し
て第3図と第6図に示す位置に達すると、加熱密封棒(
19)がフィルム(16)に圧接して加熱密封棒(79
)の両側でフィルムの層を溶着した上、フィルムを2個
の部分に切断する。
軸(35,54)は回転しつづけて第4図に示す位置に
達し、この場合アンビル(41)は加熱密封棒(79)
とフィルムクランプ(88a、 88b)から分離する
。この時点で熱可塑性のデユープ(24)とこれに収容
された物品(12)はm (35)と軸(54)間の区
域を経て包装機械(10)の右端に向けて前進する。
冷却されたフィルムクランプはフィルムクランプにフィ
ルムの溶着された層を付着させないようにするとともに
、フィルムクランプが熱可塑性フィルムから分離した際
にフィルムの溶着層を冷却し、もってフィルムの層が相
互に付着し合うようにする。
第8図は本発明の別の実施例を示す。本実施例では複数
個のアンビル組立体と複数個のフィルム切断組立体が用
いられている。第8図では各々について2個の組立体を
示す。
本実施例は第1図乃至第7図に示した好ましい実施例と
作動的には類似するが、本実施例では好ましい実施例の
装置によって取扱った物品よりも長さが短い物品を短い
良さのフィルムで包装し得る能力が得られる。好ましい
実施例の装置によって短い物品を取扱う場合には、包装
機械内を通過するフィルムの速度に満足が得られないこ
とが判明した。しかし複数個のアンビル組立体と複数個
のフィルム切断組立体−本実施例では各々が2個−を用
いると包装機械内を通過するフィルムの速度と包装機械
自体の速度が速くなり、包装機械がより一層多い物品を
包装し得ることが分かった。
第8図に示す第2実施例に記載の諸要素では第1実施例
に用いた番号と同一の番号を付している。
以上本発明を実施するに当たって最良の態様を図示し説
明したが、本発明の主題から逸I悦することなく設計に
変更や修正を加え得ることは明白である。

Claims (1)

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 (1)チューブ状の熱可塑性材料で物品を包装する密封
    切断装置において、 第1回転軸線を中心にして回転し得、前記第1回転軸線
    から離隔した位置に弾力的なアンビル面を具えた複数個
    のアンビル組立体; 前記第1回転軸線に平行した第2回転軸線を中心にして
    回転し得るフィルム切断組立体;前記各フィルム切断組
    立体に相互に離隔して取付けられる1対の中空のフィル
    ムクランプであつて前記第2回転軸線に平行して位置す
    るフィルムクランプ; 前記フィルムクランプの間で前記フィルムクランプに平
    行しかつ前記フィルムクランプに平行して前記各フィル
    ム切断組立体に取付けられる加熱可能なナイフであつて
    、各々が前記第2回転軸線から離反する方向に延出する
    刃をもったナイフ; 前記フィルム切断組立体と前記アンビル組立体を同期し
    て回転し、前記アンビル組立体と前記フィルム切断組立
    体が前記第1回転軸線と前記第2回転軸線を中心にして
    予定位置に回転すると、前記フィルムクランプと前記ナ
    イフの刃を前記弾力的なアンビル面に接触させる回転装
    置;及び 前記中空の各フィルムクランプに冷却液を供給する装置
    を含有する密封切断装置。 (2)請求項第(1)項記載の密封切断装置において、
    前記フィルムクランプを前記第2回転軸線から離れる方
    向に偏倚するばね装置を有し、前記ばね装置は、前記ア
    ンビル面が前記フィルム切断組立体に最も近接した位置
    に回転すると、前記ナイフの刃が前記アンビル面に接触
    する前に前記フィルムクランプを前記アンビル面に接触
    させる密封切断装置。(3)請求項第(1)項記載の密
    封切断装置において、前記熱可塑性材料が前記アンビル
    面を通過しやすくするために前記アンビル面が滑らかに
    なっている密封切断装置。 (4)請求項第(1)項記載の密封切断装置において、
    前記熱可塑性材料の重なり合つた部分を前記アンビル組
    立体と前記フィルム切断組立体の間で密封し、前記熱可
    塑性材料を同材料内に封入された隣接する物品と物品の
    間で切断し得るように前記ナイフを加熱する装置を有す
    る密封切断装置。 (5)請求項第(4)項記載の密封切断装置において、
    前記フィルムクランプを前記第2回転軸線から離れる方
    向に偏倚するばね装置を有し、前記ばね装置は前記アン
    ビル組立体が前記フィルム切断組立体に最も近接した位
    置に回転すると、前記ナイフの刃が、前記アンビル面に
    接触する前に前記フィルムクランプを前記アンビル面に
    接触させる密封切断装置。
