(Prior Art and Problems to be Solved by the Invention) As shown in FIG. 3, a relatively thin, dish-shaped seamless upper can body 1 formed by drawing has a narrow mouth portion 1b. Similarly, the lower can body 2 has a relatively thin (for example about 0.15 to 0.30 mm) open end 1a and a seamless cylindrical body 2b formed by drawing and ironing. mm)
When manufacturing a metal container 3 having a circumferential joint 3a by joining the reduced diameter portion 2d of the open end 2a via the heat-fusible adhesive layer 4, the open end 2a of the lower can 2 An adhesive layer 4 is formed in advance on the outer peripheral surface of the reduced diameter portion 2d, and this is press-fitted into the open end 1a of the upper can body 1, so that the adhesive layer 4 is subjected to internal pressure in the radial direction due to spring back. In this state, heating the fitting portion above the heat-sealable temperature of the adhesive to heat-seal the inner surface of the open end 1a and the adhesive layer 4 prevents external damage to the open end. It is desirable to obtain a satisfactory circumferential joint 3a without pores or the like without applying pressure (it is practically difficult to apply pressure from the outside to a relatively thin open end).

However, the curled portion 1a 1 (or tapered portion) is
Due to the anisotropy of the material, the length is not uniform along the circumferential direction, and portions that are close to straight tend to occur.
Therefore, conventionally known methods such as JP-A-58-
When trying to press-fit the lower can body 2 into the upper can body 1 by the method or device disclosed in JP-A No. 173034 or JP-A-58-81529, the lower can body The end faces of the open ends 2a of the two abut against each other, which tends to cause a problem in that it is difficult to press-fit smoothly. In an attempt to eliminate this almost straight part, the curled part 1a 1 (or tapered part)
Increasing the length not only impairs the appearance or incurs costs due to an increase in the amount of material used, but if it is too long, the open end 1a of the upper can body
If the tip of the can protrudes outward in the radial direction of the body 2b of the lower can body 2, the sharp cut edge may injure hands or fingers, or if the product is shrink-packed with heat-shrinkable plastic film or if a label is pasted. This poses a problem in that the film or label may break due to the cut edge when the film or label is attached to the paper.

The open end 2a of the lower can body 2 is inserted into the fitting hole 14. As shown in FIG. 4a, the open end portion 2a includes a reduced diameter portion 2d connected to the cylindrical main body 2b via a shoulder portion 2c, and at least the outer surface (in the case of the figure, the end surface) of the reduced diameter portion 2d. and an adhesive layer 4 formed on the inner surface as well. The reduced diameter part 2d including the adhesive layer 4 (herein referred to as the small diameter part 17; if the adhesive layer 4 on the outer surface side is not formed, the reduced diameter part 2d itself becomes the small diameter part 17). The outer diameter D 3 of the small diameter portion 17 can be press-fitted into the short cylindrical portion 1a 2 of the open end 1a of the upper can (therefore, D 3 is smaller than the inner diameter D 5 of the short cylindrical portion 1a 2 ) and in the contracted state the hole 14
The dimensions are such that it can be loosely inserted into the short cylindrical portion 14a (loosely inserted in this specification includes the case where D 3 =B 4 ). The outer diameter of the main body 2b of the lower can body 2 is set to be larger than the outer diameter of the end surface 1a 1 ' of the curled portion 1a 1 of the upper can body.

While holding the upper can body 1 in the position shown in FIG.
As shown in Fig. 4c, the curl part 1
The press-fitting is completed by continuing until the inner surface of a 1 and the outer surface of the middle part of the shoulder 2c come into contact with each other, and the fitting can body 21
is formed. In the process from FIG. 4 c to FIG. and slide radially outward. Since the outer diameter of the main body 2b of the lower can body 2 is set larger than the outer diameter of the end surface 1a 1 ' of the upper can body 1, as shown in FIG. The portion 15 disappears, and the portion corresponding to the short cylindrical portion 14a on the inner surface of the split piece 9 is replaced by the fixed die 6.
It is located radially outward from the short cylindrical portion 8a. Therefore, by pushing the gripping tool 18 in the direction of arrow A, the movement of the end surface 1a 1 ' is not hindered by the stepped portion 15, and the fitting can body 21 is moved as shown in FIGS. 4e and 4f. can be easily extracted from the die device 5 in a short time. The cutout piece 9 is slid radially inward by the action of the elastic ring 12, and after completion of the extraction, the stepped portion 15 is again formed as shown in FIG. 4f.

(Effects of the Invention) The fitting device of the present invention includes a fixed die and a movable die having a plurality of split pieces that are slidable in the radial direction along the contact surface with the fixed die. , the portion of the contact surface of the movable die that protrudes inward in the radial direction serves as a stepped portion, and while the end face of the open end of the first hollow body is engaged with the stepped portion, the second hollow body is By moving the opening end along the inside of the stepped portion, the opening end of the second hollow body is press-fitted into the opening end of the first hollow body. Even if the tip of the open end is straight or nearly straight on the entire circumference or in part, press fitting can be performed without the end faces of the open end coming into contact with each other.

Furthermore, by the time the fitting is completed, the shoulder part of the second hollow body and the curvature part of the movable die are engaged, the split pieces slide radially outward, and the stepped part disappears. This has the effect that the fitted first and second hollow bodies can be easily extracted from the die in a short time.
