Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a highly safe heliport by erecting hollow cylindrical column portions on the top of a building to lay a landing strip on the top of the column portions. CONSTITUTION:Column portions 3 are disposed at four corners to penetrate vertically the central portion of a building 1 constructed on a deep-rooted pile 2. The column portion 3 is of a hollow cylindrical shape, is erected to extend further upward from the top of a building 1, uses the same foundation with that of the building 1, and is formed with an RC- or S-structure. After forming the column portion 3 to the top, a landing strip 4 is assembled either on the ground or on the roof, lifted along the column portion 3, and placed in position on the column portion. To form the landing strip, an approximately circular landing strip 4 is placed on each of the four column portions 3 and the adjacent landing strips 4 are connected to each other. The structure may be such that three landing strips are placed respectively on three of the column portions 3 or one or two landing strips are placed.

A heliport is considered a type of airfield, and a helipad also has a restricted airspace for aircraft approach, departure, and waiting turns, and is required to have no obstacles above it, in principle. Therefore, installing it on the ground requires a vast open space with no tall buildings nearby, which places restrictions on location.

To meet these locational requirements in urban areas, helipads are built on the rooftops of tall buildings so that surrounding buildings do not become obstacles.

With a helipad on the roof of a building like this, there is a problem with airflow. In other words, the area around the building has a large disturbance in the natural wind, and the height direction is generally affected up to the same height range as the building height.

Particularly near the rooftop, an upward air current is generated upward from the windward wall surface, and a swirling downward air current is generated near the leeward wall surface. This phenomenon becomes more pronounced as the elevation of the building increases relative to the wind direction, and as the building height increases, so the current becomes stronger along with the upward and downward air currents.

On the other hand, the helicopter approaches the heliport from diagonally above and takes off diagonally in the -F direction, so the helicopter crosses the rising and descending air currents that are generated above the building wall. The situation will be extremely unstable. Therefore, when the wind is strong, it becomes impossible to fly, leading to a decline in utilization. Also, natural winds tend to be stronger the higher up you are.
It was difficult to use the rooftop of a tall building as a helipad.

In the figure, 1 is a building, which is built on a deep trench 2. Four pillars 3 are formed extending downward through the center of the building 1. The pillars 3 are hollow cylindrical and stand up on three sides from the roof of the building I. The pillar part 3 is formed using the same foundation as the building 1, and is made of RC or S construction.

The take-off and landing strip 4 is constructed by forming the pillars 3 to the top, assembling them on the ground or on a rooftop, and then lifting them up along the pillars 3 and placing them there. In FIG. 1, a substantially circular takeoff and landing strip 4 is placed on four pillars 3, and adjacent takeoff and landing strips 4 are continuous.
